I am a member of FFA, and our chapter officer interviews are next week. I have the longest resume of all the candidates and I had the best interview last year, but i have the feeling that I am gonna get screwed out of president because there is this one girl that is a senior and seniors usually get prez at our chapter. Our ag teachers gave it to the senior, just because he was one. Is this right? Are my feelings of getting screwed over worth getting worried over?

In our chapter, well, for starters only juniors and seniors can hold office, so, that said, 99% of the time a senior (no matter how unqualified they look against a junior) will get elected because the junior can have their shot at pres. next year. Our offices aren't given to us by our advisors, the members vote. So, in the long run, seniorty does rule a lot of times just because the juniors and other underclassmen have their shot at it the following year(s).

Longest resume' doesn't insure best resume'. But I get your
point. Seniority should account for something. I don't think age
should be a deciding factor in job positioning. If there was a
senior w/ great resume' that would be ideal. Most seniors have
job experience, but aren't current with technology. Some younger
employees know technology & are lacking in People skills.
Your dilemma has racked my mind. Maybe I'm not getting the
point as well as I thought.
Maybe you should bring this point up in an open forum at work.
Others may agree with you.
And once (You) win the promotion you can address this very
issue.

You don't have a 'right' to be President.
Seniority means nothing in regards to leadership ability.
It just means you have been there longer.

If you were at a Union CatHouse, would you want the 50 year old with senority or the 21 year old newcomer...LOL

Feelings of getting screwed over are never worth getting worried over.

It sounds like if you don't get it this year, next year might be your year! (I assume you are a junior now.)

Good luck!!
