I've grown up in a Jesus -filled christian background all my life... but as I became an adult I've gone back and forth trying to find what religion I wanted to be... I was pagan for awhile / unity but all these bad things started happening to me... I blamed it on my beliefs and returned back to christianity.... I have been listening to nothing but gospel music, not watching t.v. going to church all the time... I guess trying to make sure I don't do anything to make God mad ...But I'm not myself anymore... I'm not happy... Honestly...I want to take a break from all this religious stuff...church and evrything... I believe in God but I want to be atheist too..... Thanks to anyone who can offer advice!

Well I suggest you turn off the music and don't go to church (no offence but some church just go for the money, not the soul) and find KNEEL BEFORE GOD IN PRAYER AND READ THE BIBLE OFTEN. It might seem stupid, but I promise you if you do this from the heart, you'll be so happy about your religion as i am in mine.

Be patient with yourself. It sounds like you are searching, and many people go through this experience. If you have grown up in Christianity, it may be that you have never really examined what Christianity is about --that is, it was just what was there as you were growing up.

Now you have begun the process of looking around to see where you might find a spiritual home -- which may be hard to do if you still don't have a handle on what you believe --and it takes a long time to come to an understanding of what we believe.

The Dali Lama has said that any religion is an acceptable position from which to approach God and that most often the religion you were born into is the best place to remain --and this seems to be true for many people, but others do end up converting to different faith traditions and are happier.

But as for happiness, no religion can guarantee that. I think it is a mistake to deny that the human experience is a mixture of pain, sorrow, mourning, loss along with joy and contentment --this is the human condition and will not change by switching faiths.

Can you make God mad at you for searching? No, I think God is delighted to see how you are seeking in so many different ways and have so much concern about the process.

There is a saying about this , though, that might be helpful: Instead of looking for God, why don't you remain still and let God look for you?

Sooooo..if you need a break from all this religious thinking, take one !!-- go for walks on the beach, in the woods, get a journal or some paints or crayons and just be open and relaxed and wait for God.

And know that this time "away" is just fine with God.

Allah is the Only Helper plz read it!! May Allah Make your life easy and days happer!!

It is only Allah who Guides the people and it is only Allah who Misguides. The biggest problem in the past used to be the lack of interest in Islam. People were not interested in talking about Islam or any religion for that matter, even their own. Now the problem is the lack of correct knowledge of Islam. There simply was not anything about Islam out there. Then came the events of the 1970s with the actions of some of the Iranians when they hijacked airplanes and we saw on the news, men prostrating on the ground outside the airplanes. We in the West learned a new word; "Shi'ism". People said this is some strange religion (Islam). What is going on? Then came the 1980s and we saw acts of terrorism that occurred in Palestine and the words "fundamentalist" and "Muslim" became associated together. At the very beginning of the next decade we saw something take place in Iraq and Kuwait. Again religion is brought into the picture. Not a pretty picture, but a picture. Midway through the 1990s we saw big actions taking place everywhere in the world. The Trade Center in New York, airplanes, embassies, attacks and counter attacks. All along we are hearing something about "Islam" and "Moslems." Still not very positive to say the least. Then what occurred in September brought out more information, although distorted, about this religion of the East.

I believe that God cares about are actions, but only if we truly want to be that way. If you are good because you think you have to, it almost doesn't matter, however it is still better than doing wrong. I think in order for you to be happy, you need to have both a regular life and a spiritual life. Regular meaning, movies, games, fun things... I read the Scriptures every night, and that helps me keep on track. There is no need to live exactly to the line, you can make mistakes, just be sure to repent. I know some people that could really help, if you want them just let me know. By the way I am from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Remeber, there is nothing that you can do to make God not love you, he always will.

Don't be a religious man is the first thing to do. If you become religious, then that is where exactly you have missed. Further, It isn't your work and righteousness that saves you and makes you inherit the Kingdom of God; it is what Christ did for you that made you clean and righteous and worthy before God the Father to worship in his Holy of Holiness, and receive joy and blessing and unspeakable splendor. Further, if you are not happy with this world, then you are on the right path; you are not suppose to be happy with the world you live in, and you are not suppose to enjoy the world and what the world does for pleasure. Nevertheless, you should have the peace of God, and the joy of the Holy Spirit. Because the kingdom of God isn't food and drink; it is righteousness which comes from Christ not from us, and peace, which also comes from Christ. The peace that Christ gives, however, differs from the peace of the world; it isn't like the peace that the world gives, it is a peace that is beyond human understanding. Finally, there is the Joy of the Holy Spirit. That Joy should make you satisfied because with that you will have the assurance that you will inherit the kingdom of God. Look at Paul's life and read how much trouble he experienced all his life, and how much agony and pain he went through, and finally he was beheaded. But all this he considered a plus for him for the sake who gave him everlasting life, and blessed him with the inner peace and the joy of the Holy Spirit. In this world, all true believers will have trouble and would never enjoy living in the world. So don't be part of the world, be part of Christ. If you let Christ do the work for you by inviting Him in, then you will find that which the Devil has stolen from you. Christ will bring it back to you 10 folds.

If you asked JESUS to Save you, you (a Spirit) have been Recreated(Born Again).
You are on the Other Side of the Fence, but your not in Heaven yet.
When you become a Child of GOD, GOD Live's inside of you and the Devil Hate's GOD. You become a Threat to the Devil. Automatically. JESUS didn't say it would be Easy, but you Will end up in Heaven, and if you Learn some Thing's, you can Increase your Joy and Happiness while your down here on the EARTH, where the Devil's are.
Once Born Again, you can't really Take-a-Break.
"The way of the Transgresser is hard." It's not that GOD get's mad at you (HE really dosen't), but when you Fall-Back, you open the Door for the Enemy to come against you HARDER. That's why thing's seem tougher when you go away from GOD after your Born Again. Try hard to stay out of sin. I suggest you get some Christian Book's on How to Walk in FAITH. To Love GOD more, or Feel HIS Presence more, spend more time Reading the BIBLE. Pray more, seek GOD in Prayer. I get Tired too. I get caught up in Living day by day, and even though I'm not out having a good time sinning, I can still fall back if I don't keep up my Reading and Praying. When JESUS get's back, HE will Lock-Up the Enemy's(satan and his Angel's) of All Human Being's, then there will be 1000 Year's of PEACE,
and we Probably won't have to Pray much after that!
We will Still Study the WORD though! Yeah, all Children of GOD get tired at time's, satan will see to that. Get some Good Faith Book's and Learn how to Fight Back.
Hope this helps.
p.s. If you really wan't to give the Devil's a Hard Time, Learn how to Walk in Holiness. Remember when JESUS walked up and the Devil's Trembled and were Tormented? Yeah, you can Torment THEM befor the TIME if you'll Learn Holiness.

maybe it's not the right religion after all ...
a religion person should be happy bcuz he is following the rgith way .. and bcuz he is worshiping god the best way ..

so if u r not .. maybe u should change ur religion ..
read about other religions ,,,
read about islam..
I am muslim and I feel happy and comfortable..

Islam means being muslim, which means being peacefull & mercifull..
that what islam is all about .. forgiven & peace ..
all the people who read the islamic history know what I am talkin about..

One of the best prove of what I am sayin is the prophet Mohammed & his way
of treating people ..
How he was an Inspiration & a good example for muslims .. Even in wars
he was telling his men not to hurt a child or a woman or an old man or any one without a Weapon..
how he was treating with christians & jews .. how much he was kind and gentle ,,
how he was forgiving his jewish neihbour who was treating him in a bad way (peace be upon him)
& how he visited that jewish man when he got sick..

how much honiest & trustable he was..

and b4 he came a messanger ,how all the people were lefting their money and their stuff
with him when they leave if he was known as a terroism, and what they were calling him (al-sadek al-amin ) means
the honiest and who never cheat..

Islam isn't a religion of terror ..
..prophet mohammed wasn't an evil man with a scar
on his face & holding bombs in his hands as media picure him..

so how do they relate islam with terrorism ??? where r the proves ??
y do all da people relate islam with september 11 ??

Islam is great.. and islam's enemies know that .. that's y they don't want islam to stand strong
so they picture it badly as a terrorism religion ..

the best one who can talk about islam is a muslim person ..
I am muslim and I know one thing I always keep it in the back of my mind ..
islam is the lastest and the greatest religion and thank god I am muslim .. and I am proud of that..

building bad ideas about something we r not sure about is so wrong ,,

Islam is peace , islam is forgiven , islam is mercy , islam is telling the truth , islam is respecting people ,
islam is helping each other , islam is being fair , islam is the Equalization between humans,,
if people understand what real islam is there will be no one doesn't want to be muslim.. Have a nice day & good luck
I welcome emailing me if there is any comment ..

I know that I grew up in a fundamentalist family where it seemed like every sentence had the name Jesus in it to the point that he pretty much lost his meaning for me. I spent my teens and twenties as an agnostic. One day someone said to me "You seem like such a good person. Are you a Christian?" I was sort of offended that someone would be talking to me about religion at work and said "No." I knew right when I said it though that I was lying. Slowly, I started looking at becoming a Christian again. I kind of did the whole church tour thing too, looking at what the various denominations believed.

I've got to tell you, it feels pretty good to really live for Christ. No matter the struggles that come my way, he will always be first in my life, and I am so thankful that he is there for me.

Why not take a look (when you have time) at Pope Benedict's first encyclical, Deus Caritas Est. It kind of encapsulates the spirit of what it means to really be a Christian.

Do you do anything fun? Do you go to amusement parks, out to dinner. Do you have Christian friends? What about the beach, the park, the fair. What about your Church. Do you volunteer. Sometimes helping others, helps you forget about yourself. You said to keep God from getting mad. Do you know that all of your good works are like filthy rags to God. You can't do anything to be good. The Bible says, there is none righteous no not one. You can watch tv. Just stay away from the shows that are more for teaching the public tolerance. Some comedy shows that are about gay people teach tolerance. The more you see it the less shock value it has. I still watch tv, but I don't have cable so I don't get alot. The cable thing is just because I'm cheap. You don't need the bar scene and alcohol to have fun. If you want to be atheist, than that is just saying you don't want to believe that someday you will have to answer to someone. To late, you already believe....

If you have been serching that long and have not found what you are looking for, I can tell you where to find the truth that you are craving. I only know this because I searched myself for a long time and I was not joyful either. I went to every kind of church you can think of looking for a preacher that would use the scriptures to teach with. They either told me I was to lost to ever be found or they just ignored my questions, blowing me off with false answers.
One day I was in grocery store parking lot when this man walked up to me and wanted to give me a flyer from his church, I told him I didn't belive in Jesus as the savior of this world because there is no j in Hebrew. So I would not talk to him about Jesus. He said his studies had taught him the samething and he was trying to share a place where I could get more information.
I took his flyer just because it used the true name of the savior Yahshua. I read this flyer and I could not belive how the truth I had been able to see for so many years that not one preacher would talk to me about was in my hand. I called the phone number on the flyer. I've been worshiping in this house for the last eleven years of my life. I would not leave here for any reason in the world. There is joy in worship and service. I know this sounds strange according to all that christianity teaches but I found the truth and I can be myself. It's not a heavy burden to serve the Creator of the universe. Every one seems to think that we were created to be punished but we were created to love and serve eachother to make others lives easier. In turn they make our life easier. Look at the web site below and see if what your looking for is there.

Don't blame switching religions on bad things happening to you.
Your life won't always be rainbows and roses. Bad things do happen. To everyone. I know plenty of "good Christians" who have had rotten things happen to them.
If you're not happy, either 1) Christianity isn't right for you or 2) You need to find a different church/branch.
Take a break from religion. You can still worship, just-do it your way. How it feels right for you. Not how someone else tells you that you should. You need to do some soul searching, and the only way that will happen, is to cut yourself off from "religion'. Just remember that it isn't synonymous with cutting yourself off from the God and Goddess (or God for you I suppose).
