I am a Christian, so lets put that on the table first, but what I can't understand is why people get so sensitive about others asking questions that question christianity or the existence of God. It doesnt bother me at all. I am glad that people have the right to ask such questions.

If your religion is the only meaning in your life, and someone questions that meaning, chances are good it will make you upset.

Kudos to you, by the way. An unexamined religion is a pointless religion, and so is one without faith enough to take questions gracefully. Nice to see people who realize that.

I cannot speak for everyone, but I have such a situation in my family. My oldest sister attends some church services Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday evening. I am not religious. I have a college degree, while she dropped out of high school. I took Bible History in college, and I learned that there are many contradictions in the Bible. I discussed this with Mom,and Sis had a tantrum. She was outrageously insulting, and Mom and other people present were shocked. What a hypocrite! There have been many similar episodes. She evidently has doubts about her beliefs and doesn't want to face them, for she was taught that one isn't allowed to even question his beliefs. When she hears some of my intelligent arguments against religion, she becomes confused and scared, so she replaces that with anger that is easier on her, but it makes her look silly and boorish to most people who hear such wild stuff. I know that the Bible has contradictions and scientific errors galore, but Sis doesn't want to face that. Such an attitude is quite common, and many people have childish tantrums when they hear such things. They are only displaying immaturity and illogic by their behavior.

I don't get upset when people post questions about God; I get upset when these people follow their question with an insult, rude comment, or display of ignorance that is intended call into question the intelligence of a believer.

Bravo to you. I am a firm believer in "to each his own".Maybe they get upset because some of the questions are valid. You know, how dare you burst my small narrow minded bubble. Let's make it perfectly clear that the majority of Christians believe like you and I do. We are talking about a small minority of a worldwide religion.

It does not upset me but I don't like being insulted. I am a Christian. So I avoid offensive questions. I know it's freedom o speech but why can't we all ask questions with out insulting people?

Because blasphemy is offensive. It also depends on how and why the question is being asked. Are they asking because they really want to know, or are they asking to try to find some type of truth that He and or the bible is a lie?
You can't tell me that you don't get why we would be offended that someone is being disrespectful of someone we love.
If someone asked a question like I wonder what color underwear your mother is wearing today? You would not be offended?

I agree twackman.

This has opened my eyes to see different views which the world has about Jesus and Christianity.

It has also helped me realize that Christians are the main turn-off to non-Christians these days.

I find that it's the atheists who are the most angry and mean spirited. I don't mind questions that are asked in sincerity but when they just come in and say,"There is no God. Welcome to reality," it just doesn't make any sense to me. I continue to wonder if they feel that way, why are they even here.

Well, sometimes, the questions are not tasteful and that may be why some become offended.

I'm glad they are seeking the truth...

God / Jesus ROCKS!!!

I thinks its cool of Christians to be able to support their position here and to actually explain why they believe and why I should, and not just "because the bible says so".
