I have a legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2000 Business edition. I bought it from Dell when I purchased my computer in 1999. I recently bought a new computer and reinstalled the software on the new computer. (After 6 years of faithful service, the old computer was put to rest). Now that I have installed the Office program, I keep getting the annoying popup for Windows Installer. I have
to hit cancel a gazillion times to get rid of it. Any one know a solution? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program already.

I am using XP home edition. I also used XP Home Edition on the old computer.

I have tried using the CD again. It doesn't alleviate the problem at all.

I had exactly the same experience. When I loaded the Microsoft Office Suite into the new computer, I got a warning that I would be allowed to use the program only 50 times and then it would shut down permanently unless I entered a 32-digit code.

I called Microsoft and finally got the code, entered it and all was hunky-dory.

Be prepared to spent no small amount of time on the telephone trying to get a live person who will give you the correct phone number to solve this problem (it took me 2 hours).

Ok, I may not know how to fix it exactly, but I think I found something. Go to windows help, and type in windows installer. Under the bottom tab, knowledge base, there are some choices referring to office 2000. Since you didn't say which error message, you will have to see which one is best, if it is even listed. I hope this helps some.

Try inserting the office 2000 CD. Once you have done this it should stop bothering you. If you have more than one user account you will need to do this for each user.
