Although God works in mysterious ways, I feel he choose the Hebrew people because he forsaw their strength in all the adversity they would experience since being chosen. I feel he knew that although they would deny him many times, and be subsequently punished for it, the future of them showing strength was something that he admired. Those forty years were conditioning for what would be a lifetime of devotion to the strength that he asks of all of his children. Through their model God has chosen to allow for the learning of all his children though the trials an tribulations the Hebrews have experienced through the ages. Only through the power of the Book, or just the Pentateuch if you want to be diplomatic, we all have a tool to understanding God's love and devotion.

Actually, No. But If we know anything about God then we know that he has no preferences for any particular group of people. God loves everyone, rich, poor, black or white ! He had to start somewher, I suppose. I do not think he had any difficulty in teaching that group of people, because he believed that in God he could do all things and he did right in front of these students that he had. Now I know that he did this teaching to glorify God, and if we all kept God in our consciousness as Jesus taught then it would be impossible to fight with each other as we do. His teaching were true, unfortunately we have lost his message by translation of languages and the power of religion and churches. We should all try to acquire God consciousness - for peace, not to mention joy!

I think it's pretty amazing!
Despite all the mistakes they made along the way, God never abandoned them - He always left a remnant and through it all He stayed true to the promises He made to Abraham.
Sometimes when I've read the about how when Moses when up the mountain the Israelites started worshiping a golden calf in no time it's seems crazy but then I remember how many times I've slipped up and it's kinda reassuring to know that God won't give up on me.

The whole story makes no sense, but what do you expect from naive myths? If the Hebrews were his chosen people, he was quite rough on them. Of course, it's easy to be the chosen people of a god you invent. If they disobeyed and were punished, why didn't their god foresee that and choose another group that would be more suitable to him? This god is not very smart. Why have them slaves for centuries to Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Persians, Macedonians and Romans? They were free for only short periods compared to the time they were slaves to various mighty empires. I think I'd take the gods of the conquerors, not any of slaves...if I take any imaginary gods.

You're only getting the story as told BY the Jews. There is MUCH MORE to God than can be told by one people's book.
Please read more. I'd recommend Converstations With God by Neale Donald Walsch as a wonderful starting place.

God chose us all, we were the ones that created religion, and went our separate ways, not God. God has not spent any time hammering any knowledge to anyone, he gave us free will to do as we please, as I said religion is man made and that's a fact, the bible and all the other holy books were written by man, and that's a fact.

Right. He chose people who he liked best, got behind them and tried to teach them his ways.
That's what a parent does to his child. That's what a professor does to his student.
Or do you think that God would choose a group of people and then treat them badly and teach them to piss Him off?
I never wondered about any of this. I always assumed that God wants to be happy and feel successful, just like the rest of us.

1. He chose the Hebrews because Abram was listening.
2. He spent more than 40 years hammering into their consciousness, he spend centuries. And He did that because they weren't getting it. You've read the Bible, haven't you? Don't you see the pattern? God speaks, the Hebrews don't get it and act stupidly, God speaks again, they still don't get it, they do something else stupid; God speaks, David hears it, acts like a dog in heat, doesn't get it; God then sends His Son, Jesus, who tells them as plain as he can, they STILL don't get it and their chicken-**** leaders kill Him to boot for his message; Rises from the dead and they STILL don't get it; Ascends, they see Him and STILL don't get it; The Holy Spirit descends and fills Jesus's apostles who continue to spread Jesus's message, and they STILL DONT GET IT......................
