I'm a 13 year old with a 3.7 handicap and want ti improve and have the work ethic- but I have limited practice time mostly because of my parents, and there isn't anywhere I can practice except my local course. Any tips on how too make my practice time more effective?

Here is a list of things - When you practice don't worry about how many balls you hit. The process is what counts. Remember you want to get better so don't practice this stuff that makes you worse.

1. Always have a target for every club. Do not just hit balls. If you don't have a target how can you swing the club on the right plane.
2. when you play you hit the ball and then go hit it again. You don't stand in the same spot hitting the same shot. Make sure yo work on your set up. You only have one chance to get it right on the course. I would leave the ball where I have to take a couple steps to get the next ball.
3. Remember when you hit the ball the process is 1.5 seconds, so you don't have time to think of a lot things. Concentrate on the ball will you hit it. When your trying to change something, take practice swings while you work on it. Then go back to your standard shot routine. You want it to happen automatic.
4. Only work on one thing at a time
5. Don't forget the short game
6. When you hit the ball bad don't screw up your swing. Always check the basic pre swing routine. Then if you need to take a break and or work on short game. Don't practice hitting the ball bad or mess up your swing trying guess what is wrong. Find a instructor.
7. When you finish playing work on any items for a few minutes that gave you trouble.

I have several links that can help you on my blog roll. you can e-mail me if you like. I used to practice a lot and I work with a lot of

2 ways! First day make a game out your practice: first make sure your warmed up then pretend your on the tee of your local course. example first hole is a par 4, so you pull the driver and hit the ball 250yards aiming at the farthest pin on the range.. Judging by where your tee shot lands will dictate the next club, wedge, short iron or mid iron and aim at the pin that coincides with that distance. Do this for nine holes or eighteen.

Second: Remember the last round of golf you played and try and recall the club or clubs you had the most trouble with-got it! Now bring only those clubs or club to the range. Hit a large bucket and practice on tempo, ball position and SETUP SETUP SETUP. Good Luck!

If you had wiffle balls, or the relatively new Birdie Balls you might be able to practice in your yard. See www.birdieball.com You could also practice putting and we all need that.
