I believe that resurrection, like baptism, was symbolic of reincarnation, which was taught and understood by the Essenes, the Jewish sect in which Jesus was an ordained rabbi. When the Christian church took over Paul's corrupted version of Jesus's ministry, it deified the rabbi and modified the references to reincarnation to suit its political ambitions.

You miss the significance entirely. Jesus is the Word of God, made flesh. Jesus is more than just God's son. We are all sons and daughters of God. He is our creator. Adam and Eve were the son and daughter of God too. Jesus' birth, death and rising again, was all foretold in the scriptures. The significance of this was to show man that he too could have eternal life too.
Do I believe this? I obviously do. It is not a theory, it is a fact. A fact can be proven, and a theory is nothing more than an opinion. It can be proven in history records that there in fact was a man named Jesus. His origin is the crux of the various religions today. Some say He was just a prophet, and some say He was just God's son, and not God. Some say He was the archangel Michael, and some say He is a little god in heaven. Not saying who is right and who is wrong, none can deny that He did not exist, so therefore, Jesus' existance is not a theory.
If His existance is not theory, then His rising again isn't either.

This theory is incomplete.
If Jesus was brought back to life. Where did He go from then?

I would rather believe in the story that Jesus was recused from the tomb, and was covered up by making up stories that He had arisen from the dead and disappeared.

The Bible makes it clear that Jesus' resurrection isn't a myth or symbol. Instead, it really happened! The hardened Roman soldiers who crucified Him knew He was dead when they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a borrowed cave-like tomb. But on the third day that tomb was empty, and later hundreds saw Him.

Why is this important? Because it tells us there is hope—hope for this life, and hope beyond the grave. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies" (John 11:25). This hope can become yours, as you turn in faith to the living Christ and ask Him into your life.

I agree with Danielle. It was a fable about reincarnation that was exploited by the early Christian church. Egyptians and Jews believed in reincarnation long before Jesus was born. The message about CONQUERING DEATH refers to being BORN AGAIN, and these are literal references to reincarnation.

I can believe it, but that does not make is so....No one really knows besides the ones who supposedly witnessed talking to him after the crucifixion and I don't base my faith on their accounts.

I believe in Christ whether he rose from the dead or not....I believe that the words that he spoke were representative of how God truly is...

I believe, as did Thomas Jefferson, that the resurrection story is nothing more than superstitious folklore. People who are truly dead don't come back to life.

There were over 500 eyewitnesses according to the Bible -- people who knew he had died and saw him up walking around again a few days later.
