First off this is not a racist question because I am also Mex. PLEASE READ. This is serious. I live in a harsh neighborhood in the Southwest. My next door neighbor, Lu, is one of my best friends, but her uncles (there are eight) are all here illegally with their wives and kids. They all live in the house next door to us. There are three trucks sitting in their driveway and yard, which blast and I mean BLAST, mariachi music, 24/7. And by 24/7, I really do mean nonstop. At night, it is so loud it shakes our walls. During the day, you can still hear it even from our bathroom in the center of our house. Lu tries telling them to tone it down but they laugh at her, plus, a few of them are abusive and involved with the Mexican Mafia and WBP (wet back pride, a gang here) so she is scared to tell them anything. I have tried telling them so many times to turn it down and they do for one minute, then turn it right back up, it is useless. Also, the cops never come to this part of town. ADVICE?

Video tape and or record the noise. Use this as a tool to replay the disturbances to the police and insist on filing a complaint. If you can get another neighbor or someone in your own home who is an adult to sign/file with you as your witness you can be pretty sure this will end up before a judge and they will be fined. or held in contempt if they don't show up for court appearance. Also, the illegal immigrant aspect is of no major import. The issue is noise and disturbing the peace. Usually a police offiver needs to witness it or if there are two or more people and one is willing to sign a complaint, off you go to a solution usually. There may (or may not be) be an ordinance limiting the number of people that can live in any particular residence. The code enforcement folks at the city will clue you in on that. Do what you can there. Don't tolerate noise disturbance. You may have to get kinda heavy handed with the cops as they don't seem to want to do anything on this kind of stuff cuz they usually need to show up in court on their days off. Weird system but that's the way it is. Insist on you rights to file a complaint and FOLLOW THROUGH. We have problems with illegals etc. in this country because few do follow through and assert their rights. Good luck!

I've been there on two counts. When I was PG the next door neighbors blasted music so loud I couldn't sleep, hang pictures, talk on the phone, etc. I called the landlord and they did it worse. I called the police and then the Mexicans acted like I did something to them. And as to the Mexican Mafia, they shot up my next door neighbors back door while she was at work cause she told on them.
Could you afford to move someplace quieter? Might be your safest bet. In the mean time, report them to INS from a phone outside your neighborhood and don't give your name or tell them about the stereo or anything that can be used to identify you.
Good luck.

OH, you really should move if at all possible. If they are involved with dangerous groups, then you are in danger, even if you never confront them or call the police. What if some rival gangs or someone they pissed off decide to come and start shooting and stuff? If you are under age, talk to your family and see if you can get them to move. If it's your own place, I bet you can find another place to move, a safer place where people can have some respect. A few weeks after you move, call INS on those sorry people.

Oooo, tough situation. Have you actually calling the cops? Some people say that cops don't go to their side of town, but this can't be true. I work for city gov't, cops go to all parts of town.

If you've tried the cops and it didn't work, then do what someone else said and call Immigration. Here is a website to report suspected illegal aliens or suspected illegal activity:
http://www.ice.gov/

For the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services:

HELLO.. Call the stinking police on their illegal azzes. They want to come to America, but they can't even follow our laws. Disturbing the peace is illegal. Being here without citizenship, or a work visa is illegal. It's not right, and it's not fare to all the other Mexicans trying to become citizens the right way. I wish I knew where you lived. They'd be out of there in the blink of an eye. If you don't call the police on them your not too bright.

If your not having any luck with the Local Police. Contact the State Police. Also contact ICE Report those here Illegally to ICE they may not do anything but, you gotta keep calling. Make it so they get tired of hearing from you. You shouldn't be FORCED from your home by ANYONE Much Less Illegals. Again Call the State Police and report them. I'll even go so far as to tell you to contact your Local Congressman. Tell him your problem explian that the Police refuse to come. You are the Only person that can MAKE this happen.

I had the same problem mija. This is what I had to do:

1. Very nicely, I asked them to turn their music down. They didn't.

2. The next time it happened, I called the police to complain. The police came and they turned it down.

3. The next time it happened, I told the police of the time they had to come out before (I wrote down the date) and the police came and gave the people a ticket for $250.

There has been no problem since. And, yes, they spoke bad about me. Told me I over did it! I get nasty looks when I see them. And finally, last week they moved. This is what worked for me.

I have a way but be prepared to back it up! On the other hand the cops in my town tell me from past experience that Hispanics are called in on for 90% of loud music calls...considering that they are 35% of the population..well, you get it! The third time I called the cops I had the officer to tell the perps that I would handle it next time like I have in the past with other Mexican neighbors. No problemo's!

The only advice I have is call the police. If you're afraid to call the police then call imigration officials.

You could of course rally the rest of your neighbors together and present a united front to the police. Numbers will always get officials attention. Either way you MUST reclaim your neighborhood, like everything else in this world it won't go away just by hoping it will, you have to take action.

You're best recourse is to contact your local government/law enforcement officials.
