Anything anyone tells you other than this is bull. You can't fix split ends. You have to prevent split ends with conditioners and gentle care.
So if you have them you can tell your hairdresser that you intend to grow out your hair for locks of love and that you only want an 1/8 in off the bottom. The other thing I have done is sectioned off my hair in pinwheel sections all around my head 5 or 6 sections (to keep track of where I already was) and pull each section up toward my face and just clip the split ends a tiny bit. Some people burn them but I think it is too stinky.
Good luck

Im in the process of locks of love too. It drives my mom nuts cuz I havent gotten my hair trimmed or cut in over a year and a half!! I dont really see a problem with having split ends.. but thats just me. The thing I would recommend is to just go to your hair dresser and have them take about a 1/2 and inch to an inch off the bottom if it really annoys you.

You should trim the ends off. Locks of love won't be able to use the hair if it is too badly damaged. A trim every now and again will not prevent you from growing your hair long enough to donate it.

You could trim it - I know you said no haircut. Split ends are going to happen.

Blow dry your hair as little as possible, don't use curling irons or any other hot hair device. Cut back on styling products and use a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. Neutrogena has a great one.

Just keep conditioning your hair. Use a hot oil treatment - I prefer the Ojon hair oil (it is solid but you rub it in your hands and it melts - and it coats your hair - after a few uses your hair looks SO good! - but it is pretty pricey - hence why it works so good)

You can also use any hair oil - just keep moisturizing it. Split ends cause because of all the damage that is done to it because it is the oldest part of your hair strand. just maintain it and if you don't want a haircut- cut the individual split ends.

Trimming split ends every 6-8 weeks will help keep them to a minimum. Also, keep the ends of your hair moisturized. Jojoba oil, a natural oil, found at some health food stores, can be applied every night or every other night before going to bed to keep ends moisturized. Jojoba oil is light oil that helps split ends, damaged hair, or any hair breakage.

Just get a trim. And if you let your hair grow for more than 2 inches, you'll have split ends.

Get them trimmed. You won't lose a lot of hair. Or you can just grow it a little longer than you want. Then trim it. Good luck!

u can get certain serums.....try a local pharmacy or ask ur hair dresser where u can get them. they wont cure them but they will! hide them. basically, there is no way to get rid of split ends. they will always be with u! (unless u shave ur head!!!)

ps:it is so nice that your donatin ur hair to locks of love!
