Yes, it is possible to fall in love too soon. You don't really know all there is to know about this person. You may not realize what he is hiding and not sharing with you. You could also be in love with the person you THINK he is instead of the person he REALLY is.

There is never such a thing as "too soon" or "too late".
Sometimes people need more time than others to get to know another person. Some people are very shy, while others are very open and social. Some people have a very clear aura which helps with the energy and chemistry you are feeling. Another important factor that usually plays in a relationship is actually the amount of time ON A DAY. If you spend 12hrs a day (getting to know each other), instead of 1 or 2 hours, of course you will fall in love "faster" (with this I mean less days). Another factor... is the QUALITY of time. A guy and a girl can spend the 12 hrs I told you about watching TV all day... which really wont take them anywhere and I doubt they will get to know each other this way. ON the other hand, if you go and play tennis, then go and have dinner, and at night you go somewhere (i.e., the beach) to watch the stars at night, you might fall in love faster.
So.... don't wonder anymore!.... start feeling and enjoying what love is all about!
Congrats!

Alot of people confuse love with infatuation. True love is something that slowly grows over time; with it comes loyalty, respect, and understanding. Infatuation on the other hand tries to mask itself as love. You like every little thing about the person right down to the way they chew there gum;) Give it time, if it was meant to be so it shall be :) Best of luck

To answer your question: YES
You need to make sure and the only way to make sure is with time. Be happy, feel good, enjoy the moment, but don't get in too far over your head until you have given the relationship time to grow.
Today over 1/2 of marriages end in divorce. Don't be one of those statistics.
