i just wanna know what you can and cant bring to basic training.

if you have asthma can you bring an inhaler?
can you bring vitamins?
what should you pack with you?
how many pairs of clothes should you bring?
should you bring all play clothes to get dirty in?
do they have you excersing and running before you take the prt running and situp test?
what are the minimum qualification to pass the PRT?
and is the run for 2 miles or a 1.5 miles? and how many minutes do you have to run it?

as you can see my recruiter sucks, im willing to live and experience that tough basic training life but my recruiter is so sneaky and dirty that he wants to sugar coat everything and not tell me the truth. but i will feel alot better knowing something is hard even though its the truth rather than lying to me saying that its a breeze so can somebody break it down to me, truthfully

I would recommend talking to another recruiter in the office if yours aint helping you. This is basic stuff that the recruiter should be telling you.

Basically pack light because once you get there they are going to take everything away like civilian clothes and all that. You will have to bring your own hygiene (did I spell that right) stuff. You will have to take a practive PT test to see where you stand and then you will be working out everyday so you will improve by the time you have to take your final test. The qualifications are diffrent depending on sex and age. The run is 1.5 miles. I would recommend if you are going to practice them at home you do it the AF way with putting your arms over your chest...

Let me answer each item:

if you have asthma can you bring an inhaler? - YES, absolutely bring any medication that was issued to you by a doctor.

can you bring vitamins? - No, not unless they were issued by a doctor.

what should you pack with you? - Basic toiletries, like toothbrush/toothpaste, shaving gear (no electric razors!) for 30 days, bar of soap. As far as clothes, anything you bring will be stowed away for a good 5 weeks. They will give you all the clothes you will use in Basic. MAYBE you'll get the chance to go off-base, later on, at which time you might get to wear your "civies". Don't pack much, it's all stuff you'll have to pick up/put down/pick up when you get off the bus when you get there anyway.

how many pairs of clothes should you bring? - See above answer. One good set is enough.

should you bring all play clothes to get dirty in? - They will give you all you need to get dirty in.

do they have you excersing and running before you take the prt running and situp test? - You'll take the test early, then excercise like crazy after you get there, and then take it again to show your progress.

what are the minimum qualification to pass the PRT? - Minimum qualifications depend on your age and gender. It's not that hard, unless you are just a total slug.

and is the run for 2 miles or a 1.5 miles? and how many minutes do you have to run it? Run test is 2 miles. You should have around 16 minutes to finish it to pass, again, based on age and gender.

Good luck!!! Thanks for serving our country!!!

you passed the physical with asthma.... wow! if you need an inhaler and they allow it they will issue you one. You'll do plenty of PT before any test but I suggest you begin working on it now. I would bring the following.

a little pocket money

phone cards

paper

pens

envelopes

and stamps

have your doctor write any prescriptions that you currently take on paper and why.

2 civilian outfits 1 dress and one casual. you can have make-u if you are a female to wear off base and you can have something to keep your hair up.

They won't let you have vitamins.

You can find the minimums and all the information about the test here : http://www.stewsmith.com/linkpages/getre.htm

If you have asthma I doubt you will get in,

But if it is medically prescribed you can bring it,

Yes you can have a limited amount of personal items

You will get a list of what to bring before you go

And there will be almost no personal time to do anything out of uniform during basic training

You will be running and running and running every day

We did up to 5 mile before we were finished.

The timed runs will depend on age as to the amount of time allowed.
