How long is it? What is the texture of your hair? Is it poofy because of the cut? Well, you could start by using shampoo and conditioner for straight hair -- it tends to weigh the hair down and calm some of the frizz. Then, you could also try a smoother -- like hair gel or glossing wax but not as heavy. A good, lightweight and cheap smoother to try is the one by Garnier Fructis.
If you can change your hair cut, maybe try avoiding layers. All one-length for your hair can make it heavier and less likely to poof out. I caution you though, about the one-length thing, because it really only works to weigh your hair down if your hair is longer than shoulder-length. Any shorter than that, at one-length, can make your hair very voluminous. The texture of your hair is really a big factor, too. Good luck!

If you want straight hair you should try a ceramic straitener. You can get them at Wal Mart and they are only around 25.00 rather then the 100's you pay for one at the salon. The cermic ones get alot hotter then others and leave you with the straight shiney hair. If you aren't wanting staight but just not wanting the poof, you might try neotrogena hair cream to tame it down some. Works great for me.

try to GEL of MOUSE your hair. my hair used to be frizzy and poofy until i discovered hair gel. you can really only use it for curly hair tho. if u have really thick and alot of hair, try a strong gel. sometimes i put a little bit of gel and mouse in my hair at once, so it really stays.
good luck!

You can get it thinned out. You can have it relaxed. Make a hair appointment.

use frizz-ease. it works really well and you can get it at any drugstore. you can use a ceramic flat-iron because they aren't as bad for your hair, but it's not a good idea to use them every day.
