she has broken up with her old bf for a while now, and i can understand there is a feeling between us that she likes me too, but shes my best friend and i dunno how to talk to her about this in words

Be VERY careful on this one. I fell in love with a woman who was my best friend. But she "didn't feel that way about me." Make a long, PAINFUL, story short, our "friendship" ended, badly. That was 20 years ago and I still think about her, alot, every day.

be honest and tell her what is on your mind and you can not go wrong....just be honest...with that you have to be honest with yourself and honest with her.
