I am currently on holiday overseas and have just got engaged, only both our families know so far and we would like to announce this to our friends etc by email or something similar as it is too expensive to call every one back home. We are looking for a fun or humorus way to annouce this by email or ecard...does anyone have any suggestions or ideas, know of any web sites or have a story...

Congrats! Sending out engagement announcements is great, as long as you invite everyone you send them to. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Trust me on this one...

Here are some I like:

Or you can create your own using outlook.

Good Luck!

It is not usually a good idea to send engagement announcements out to people. Tell them when you get back, verbally. You can also put a notice in the paper.

But if you send out paper acnnouncements or a mass email, that's not really proper, and plus anyone who receives one of those announcements will assume you will also be inviting them to the wedding. And then later you have to backtrack on your guest lsit during the wedding planning, and it creates an etiquette nightmare.

You've already told your families which is really all you should do at this point. Try to keep some of your wedding planning news under your hat, even though you're feeling very happy right now.

I saw a "save the date" card for the wedding of two attorneys that was formatted like a postcard supeona.

Maybe you two could make a play on your careers and create an ecard! Or a wedding blog - just get a new blog, customize it, and annouce it there. Send everyone the link but don't tell them what it's for. Surprise! What about maybe creating a virtual magazine cover with your picture and the news splashed all over it?

Since you are on holiday, are near the water? You could say "we're taking the plunge!"

One of the best ways is to set up a blog.

Write the details of how the big event happened then send everyone a link to click on and share in your joyous event! Don't forget to add the photos so they can see how happy the two of you are. You can also "ham it up" in the photos also which will make it even more original and fun.

Use theknot.com You can set-up a cute wedding web page, and then have the web page e-mail to everyone you want to tell about your engagement! You can upload your picture, tell the story of your engagement and about each of you. I made one and I love it! Free and easy to do!

Plus if you have people w/o e-mail or internet access(i.e. grandparents...) you can print everything out and send them a hard copy

Congrats

Are you financially strong, and prepared to safeguard an adolescent basically in case? if so, they could do no longer something about it. I say basically sit down them down and enable it out. We were terrified to inform my fiances mom, and she easily did properly, and ever because that has been marvelous to me. i do no longer imagine you're too youthful. i'm basically a three hundred and sixty 5 days older and getting marriedin November. we've been relationship because that we were 14, and waited this lengthy for economic stability. I one hundred% help youthful married couples, noticeably those in the defense force. it is going to likely be frustrating, and different defense force different halves are awful, so I desire youy success! through the way, thank your fiance for his service. I pray for his protection.

Take a pic of the two of you and have your mom(s) put it in the local papers. It won't cost a thing and they'll even send you a free laminated copy.
