Before the temple was built, Jews offered sacrifices. Even before the Tent of Tabernacles with the Arc of the Covenant, they offered sacrifices since Abraham sacrificed the ram in Isaac's place.

Good question. Here are the facts:
As some of the other posters have written, we (jews) can only offer sacrifices in the temple. So, no-temple; no sacrifice. This is a law which was given to us by G-d to be enforced once the temple was established.
To those very ill-informed posters who said "it's because of jesus etc..", I have to bluntly say they're wrong. Firstly, we don't believe in jesus etc.. He's got nothing to do with it. Secondly, Jesus is supposed to be a sin sacrifice (or passover sacrifice; it seems christianity doesn't have that straight yet) -- but there are LOTS of other types of sacrifices! So why would those other ones end just because of jesus? The answer is clear: It has nothing to do with jesus.

And lastly, since I assume the questioner is most concerned with sin sacrifices, it is appropriate that I point out that judaism has *never* considered sacrifices as being the important ingredient in atonement. Rather, heartfelt repentance is the main part. Sacrifices, prayer, charity -- all the externals associated with atonement in Judaism -- are all secondary and certainly wouldn't hold back atonement.

As it says in Hosea 14:3, "Take with you words, and return unto the L-RD; say unto Him: 'Forgive all iniquity, and accept that which is good; so will we render for bullocks the offering of our lips."

OK, heres the deal. Theres only ONE PLACE ON THIS PLANET where the Sacrifices can take place ok? And thats in the Temple, which is in Jerusalem. Unfortunatly, the Romans destroyed the temple back in AD 68, and only now is the Jewish Government starting to quietly make plans to rebuild the Temple.

Now, you're thinking "Why not just build the temple if you know where its at, and whats required?"

Because 200 feet away is the Dome of the Rock Mosque which is considered to be the 2nd Holyist place for Muslems.

For the Jews to start construction on the New Temple (I would donate 100 dollars right now if they were starting on it) they have to either oblierate the Dome of the Rock (Which means war with ALL the nations around Isreal) or they need a lasting peace accord (Yeah, like thats gonna happen)

However, Scripture says the Temple WILL be rebuilt. And when it is- they WILL reinstitute the daily Sacrifice.

Look up "DNA red bull isreal" and it should bring up a CNN article a few years back where they actually made a Red Bull, for this sacrifice

1) The Temple was destroyed.

2) The Temple mount is currently occupied by Muslims.

3) There are no ashes of the red heifer currently available to purify anyone in order to restart the Temple sacrifices. Supposedly some Christian rightwingers were trying to breed the ideal red heifer, but I am not sure how far they got.

properly i'm no longer Jewish, yet i understand the answer to that. via fact the temple does no longer presently exist. It grow to be destroyed in 70 advert, by ability of the Roman Empire. it fairly is the only place a Jew can licitly make sacrifice, via fact of Deuteronomy 12:11, which says that sacrifices could be made interior the area God "chooses via fact the residing place for his call." The books of Kings describe countless practitioners of sacrifice interior the "severe places" with clean disapproval. Sacrifices could be interior the temple.

After the Temple was built, sacrifices became forbidden anywhere else. We don't know exactly where the Altar should be built. To answer your questions, read Deuteronomy 14.

Because we don't have our Beis Hamikdash (Holy Temple) anymore. We are not permitted to make animal sacrifices outside of our Temple. Probably because they are such holy and special things, and to treat them like common occourences is totally wrong.

Animal sacrifice can only be made at the Temple. The romans destroyed it, twice, and it's not been rebuilt since.

Because they believe that after Jesus's blood was shed that was the greatest sacrifice of all. They don't have to sacrifice animals any more. At least that's what my Holly Rollen mom tells me.

Because the Messiah has come and offered Himself as the final sacrifice for the sins of all mankind.

"For Christ died for sins, once for all, the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God." 1 Peter 3:18
