I have been on birth control for a year so my cycles arent very heavy, but I recently went to Japan to see my husband who is in the military, and when I got back home, I had an early and extremely heavy cycle. and then 2 weeks later when I was supposed to be on my cycle, I didnt do anything. I know I'm not pregnant because I took the tests at different dates and all were negative, but if anyone can shed some light for me, I would appreciate it :).

Yes, it does, something about the cabin pressure causes the problem. I started my period on the plane, there was a big mess. It was heavier than normal.

I don't know if it would affect you so long afterwards through.

Well, normally the reason stress/traveling would mess with your cycle is that it would delay ovulation. However, the pill is supposed to suppress ovulation. The other way the pill works is that it makes it less likely that implantation will occur. It may be that you became pregnant on your trip and had a very early miscarriage (the bleeding) because of the pill. It isn't surprising that you didn't cycle again two weeks later.

Yes. Traveling can mess with your cycle. Vacations are actually stressful catching planes, 8 hour flights, connections, seeing the love of your life and hoping he still loves you. All of this can really mess with you even though your having a wonderful time.

I presume you have Tricare, go to your doctor its free.

Japan is a fabulous duty tour if your Army or Airforce. He should get an extended tour and you two could be together over there. We had great fun in Japan.

Yes, very much so. You entire body gets 'confused' when you travel, including you menstrual cycle. However, it should get back to normal within two-three cycles. If it doesn't normalize, then it's time to worry.

That can be caused by the stress of traveling, although, how long were there for? If it was long enough to adjust to the time change, it may be possible, if you're worried about, see your Doctor or GYN.

Well I would say that sometimes stress can play a big part in irregular periods. Even if you don't feel stressed sometimes it can be unconscious! If it is no normal next month go see your doctor! Good luck!
