When I say "core teachings" I am attempting to preclude radical preists or imans that call for violence or pervert the true intent of the religion.. and by "dangerous" I mean in the context of western society.. I am referring strictly to the essential tenets of the religion here.

I believe for what I have seen that Islam is one of those because through fanatical believes they are willing to put other peoples live in danger including their own. And I say fanatical because the original believes from Islam didn't involve killing one another. That's not what co-ran teach. All started when mahomah died leaving without a successor. And now I think has become a very dangerous religion for anyone surrounded by it.

I'd say Christianity. Jesus never ever said "Come follow me...begin this religion"....he just simply meant..."Come follow me..to this hill top and chat". in other words, man has clearly taken the powerful teachings of Jesus and created an entire religion around it with rules and regulations. Many have fought wars and battles "in the name of God" funny how that sounds a lot like fighting wars "in the name of Allah".

99% of Christians today have missed the point of Jesus. These are the ones who judge and condem. Jesus was never about these actions.

I think that religion is not dangerous it's people who change the religion to suit them and only then it can become dangerous.
larry_the_orc, whoever you are I don't know how you managed to get to the level you got to, it seems you HAVE NO IDEA what the Koran says, the teachings of the Koran is one of love and peace. You should get you facts straight before being offensive to the Islamic faith!!!!

I don't believe that any religion is dangerous... Many would say Muslims would be but if you truly study the Koran the teachings are not much different than Christians.

Well I will go with Satanists..

Islam. At its core...going all the way back to the behavior of Mohammed... It calls upon its members to convert people or kill them. Many other popular religeons have defended themselves and their people throughout history, but if you run the list of the Majors... Islam is by far the most dangerous. Budhism, Hinduism, Christianity, etc... All encourage conversion to their way of thought and believe that if you dont convert you will receive punishment in the afterlife, however, Islam commands that you be punished here and now!

That is why I believe that Islam is the most dangerous... Heck...The First Crusades were ordered to Drive the Muslims back out of Europe where they had ordered conversions of Christians at the point of a sword! Many chose to die rather than convert...and many took their Christian Faith 'underground' during that dark time untill they were liberated by the Crusaders. And that was Hundreds of years ago!

the MOST dangerous religion is the arrogant mind, the haughty ego and intolerant heart... these three doctrines then weave themselves into ANY religious core teachings to manupilate the masses and turn them violent.

What can be more dangerous than a Wicked Mind and Scheming Heart?

*****Based on it's core teachings - what is the most dangerous religion? .. and why? ***

All of them, Judaism,Christianity and Islam included.

They all share the same basic core, that based on the punishment reward system, in other words Heaven for believers and hell for every one else.

We all must come up with a more peaceful alternative.

May the Good Lord have mercy on us all.

Islam beyond a shadow of doubt.

If it were like Budhism or Hinduism where the myths and legends merely set the moral tone for the culture, but it's not actually meant to be believed, it would be one thing, but the danger arises when people begin to believe and obey what it tells them to do.

Thank God Charlie Manson didn't write a book!

Religions aren't dangerous, they're just a bit of fun. When was the last time you saw someone in hospital because a religion had run them over? or shot them? or bitten their leg?

People are dangerous, so are buses, guns and pit bull terriers.

You probably worry too much.
