My current religion has a really good basketball program but if they find out I changed religions they will kick me off the team. However I dont believe their stuff anymore because this new religion told me they were false.

If your new religion allows you to lie, and hide the truth then don't tell them. Staying in your current faith ( in disguise ) just for the program, is practical on a material basis, but makes you kind of a user doesnt it? If they dont allow you to lie, but you do it anyway... better you dont commit to any faith.... why say I am of this faith but yet contradict its foundations of practice.

So whether old religion or new religion, using anyone or any congregation false or otherwise, for personal gain, already puts one outside the gates within the circle of faith. Its all just a show

The choice of religion is like choice of citizenship and not something to eat for lunch or dress to wear. There is God as your highest form of belief to be considered. Since the religion you are thinking of transeferring to will most likely not close its door in the next five years or more, maybe it is wise to stay where you are to continue your "good basketball program".
The religion that tells you about the false religion you belong to..in the first place, have you considered that you may have not studied well your first religion and it happened that you were not equipped to disprove the one who is recruiting you? . are you sure they are not? Remember every religion you go to will always claim theirs is the truth.. now, if you truly believe this one is true, you have to make a choice and out of that choice there will always be a sacrifice. It will be unfair to both because you will be living in deceitful ways and that is selfishness.

First of all, don't believe something is false just because someone said so, pray about it and find out for yourself.

Second of all, would they really kick you off the basketball team for not being a member anymore?

Too risky, but try this:

Tell your current religion's Head Coach-Priest that Michael Jordan's hang time was often described as 'God-given' by sports journalists.

Demand the same, as proof that his god really exists.

If you can't jump higher within, oooh, 10 minutes, you have a valid reason to disavow and convert.

If you're any good at basketball, they will beg you to stay on.

Use this as a bargaining chip to say 'OK, I'll still play on the team, but in exchange, I get to be a free-thinker.'

Find your way again friend, true belief in any religion will not bring up basketball into the equation. Not sayings its not important, but it doesnt come into the picture. I hope I am wrong on this, but it sounds like your reasons for changing religions doesnt reach deep into your soul. But again, if you are not ready for doing that kind of soul searching, then wait and take your time in this. And Good Luck.

Religion is not like pro basketball, you don't just shoot to be on the best team. You read the word of God and seek the truth as if your very soul depended on it, because it does. Jesus Christ died so that you might live. If you are truly interested in true religion, read about him. He loves you and so do I. God Bless You.

Since you seem to be doing the right thing for the wrong reason, wait until the season is over!

Seriously, if you don't have any better reason for changing than that they told you your present religion is false, it's not much reason. Think for yourself.

The Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost will whisper to your heart the things which you should do. Remember it is a whisper, so with humility and prayer, listen to what your heart and mind tells you and if it feels right in both, go for it. God will cause our hearts to burn(a good feeling) if it be true. If it be false or not the right choice, you will remain with a stuppor of thought.
