If you like him, go for it. A social group shouldn't stop two people from being together. Haven't you ever heard Avril Lavigne's song "Sk8r Boi"?
IF you have feelings for this boy, then your friends should accept that dispite the fact that you two are different. They should want you to be happy, no matter who it is with.
I say go for it, for all you know he could be a really cool person that could teach you a lot of valuable things. And, you'll meet even more people because you could become friends with his friends.
Best Wishes.

Yes you should. Social groups are silly. Hang out with the people who make you happy not who your friends think you should hang out with. Besides if you dont ask him out you might be passing up the best relationship you could ever encounter because of a social group?

Should you? You decide, but keep this in mind:
Everyone, or almost everyone who didn't do something in high school, like ask someone out, etc, regrets it after HS. If you put any college guy or girl back in HS, they would have all the confidence, play the sports, make the friends, sleep with whomever, date whomever, and not bother.
If your "social group" talks ****, realize that more people will respect you for being independent and happy from within. Everyone is scared in HS. Everyone respects people whose happiness and self-esteem comes from within.

thats the problem withbsocial groups it makes teens thing that they arent good enough for some one or it makes them think that they are better, but it the way of growing up , i advise you to go ahead and ask him its worth a shot and he may say becuz his friends may think hes cooler for talking to you... well thats long if you arent a goth or a geek or a straight up loner.. but good luck be your self

social groups dont exist after high school. dont let being poplular, or pleasing everyone else affect who you hang out with. you two could be perfect for each other...
