Tammy, first of all let me tell you that you are NOT alone. Many people suffer from this, including myself. YOU WILL GET BETTER! Not just better, but back to your good ol' self.

I suffered with anxiety and Panic attacks for a while, because I did not seek help. You are on the right track. In reference to medication, not all meds work the same for everyone. I was originally prescribed Prozac....not good for ME. Then I was prescribed Serzone...bad side effects for ME. Finally I was prescribes Luvox (fluvoxamine). I have been taking this for the last 6 or 7 years and it has been a life saver.

You mention your anxiety brings you to depression and you may also have OCD. Well, let me tell you that these are ALL related. As a matter of fact, Luvox is speciffically for OCD, but I was never diagnosed with OCD. Although, I did have some OCD symptoms, but nothing serious. What I suggest is that you find someone in your area that SPECIALIZES in anxiety and panic disorders. The more a Dr. knows about these disorders the better and faster they will be able to help you out.

If you need any other info, or just a good pep talk, please e-mail me. I know exactly what you are going through and it is importatnt that you can speak to someone that can relate. Knowing you are not alone and knowing that you WILL get better is a HUGE step to recovery.

Wishing you all the best.

I was prescribed Paxil for both anxiety and depression. It didn't help me much, but when I decided to go off it two years later, I suffered very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms which lasted a few months.

I was also prescribed Wellbutrin, just for depression. It seemed to help a little, but after the Paxil experience I decided I didn't want to stay addicted to any other antidepressant. During the quitting process, I suffered a very different withdrawal symptom - emotional violence.

Conclusion? Both drugs are very dangerous. They might help some people, but it could get ugly once you try to wean yourself from them.

From my personal experience and subsequent reading, all antidepressants can be dangerous. While some people may not have serious side effects while taking it, many people experience disturbing withdrawal symptoms (some physical, some emotional).

I believe that we should try our best avoiding antidepressants unless there is absolutely no other choice (you or someone's life is in danger, or other types of therapy haven't worked well enough).

No matter what, if there is no other alternative for you, I hope you find an antidepressant that will work for you! Good luck.

First off, you aren't alone. Many of us have similar symptoms that you have.I use to go through the worst anxiety attacks going so I know what I'm talking about as well as the depression. You need professional help.I did. Be open and honest with the therapist.Everything is private and confidential so don't hold anything back even if you think something sounds to foolish to say. It's pain you have to get out and then you can slowly start fighting your depression. I won't pretend it's easy because it isn't but if you are patient with yourself you can do it.As far as medications are concerned they are O.K. for awhile but you don't want to depend on then for the rest of your life. It may also take awhile to find the right one/s for you. Don't give up.Take a deep breath and take that first step to finding happiness for yourself. All the best.

I take 300 mg of Wellbutrin daily and in combination with 200 mg of Zoloft and 20 mg of Abilify. There are no side effects from any of them and I haven't been depressed for a couple years. I have a history of major anxiety and depression. I occasionally take 1 mg of Adivan for an anxiety attack. It calms you down and is kind of like Valium. Good Luck!

Tammy, you've got to get to a doctor. There's no one here that can help you with that. There are medications that can help you but the course of treatment is best left up to a professional. I've been on several different "mood meds" and they each had different effects. I'd be happy to discuss it more privately if you want to contact me. You sound like you really need to do something soon.

well i have the same symptoms as you and i take 150mg of zoloft (sertraline) every day and 20-50mg of trazodone if i need help sleeping. I never use up the trazodone. I maybe take it once or twice a month. This along with seeing a therapist once every few months has helped me IMMENSLY! Though i am working on switching from zoloft to something that has less sexual side effects. Perhaps it would effect you differently but i have pretty much no drive.

What you need is a professional help from doctors, not lots of unqualified opinions from general masses. Get an accurate diagnosis from a doctor first, then if you want to discuss the results, come on back....

First off, talk to your doctor. There is no way any of us could diagnose you.

Second, I'm on Welbutrin XL, and my doctor and I have discussed it many a time. Her thoughts, and my personal experience, say that it does NOTHING for anxiety.

I'm also looking for the best medicine for anxiety and depression however its very difficult to come to a conclusion on your own. In the end I go with what the psychiatrist prescribes. I too have OCD and can never decide anything, even if I have all the information needed to make a decision. Also to NIYA, I have come of venlafaxine its been 5 months. I been getting really emotional and crying daily. I don't know if this is a withdrawal effect or just me. Venlafaxine is an SNRI so slightly different from SSRI. I don't like being on medicine but sometimes its can help, I been on quetiapine for over 4 years now, without it I'd probably been in a permenant psychosis. I still have slight delusions, paranoia etc. but if I take anymore medicine it make me way to tried.

You need to go ask for some xanax or cloazapram. They are much better for anxiety, less expensive and they REALLY work. Good luck, I've been there.
