My kitten laid on me the other day and swatted my eye, not in anger, but in playfulness, they seem to think thats the way to play. I have what we call a "bad cat can" its a soda can with pennys in it and it makes this loud noise. Its taking a bit, but I have noticed a bit of a change in her when she does something like that, or attacks random stuff in the house (my curtains mostly) you shake the can and eventually they get the hint that, doing that, makes a loud bad noise so they don't do it. The water bottle thing is a good idea, just make sure you don't spray them in face, also, from what a bunch of books have said, the scare of the water seems to wear off eventually and doesn't scare them anymore. Good Luck!

Keep your legs and arms covered while sleeping. Your kitten probably likes the feel of flesh - an instinct. I would recommend getting some catnip toys or a scratching post. Most cats have the "catnip gene" meaning they go berserk for catnip but others don't. If he does go berserk with the catnip, rub some on the scratching post to persuade him to use it instead of your arm. You'll just have to try it. My Fred would nearly break his teeth pulling on a small burlap bag of catnip toy he had. He finally tore it open and soon looked like Al Pacino at the end of Scarface except he had catnip all over his face. He looked frazzled but contented. Good Luck!

My cat is no longer a kitten and she still attacks me at night. I found that by having extra covers over my feet she can't get her teeth or claws through it. No moving also helps. I think it is natural for a cat or kitten to attack anything that's moving. My cat likes to get right in my face at night so I pet her and rub her face. When she has had enough she bites my hand, not hard just hard enough to let me know she is done. For one thing it shows you she is healthy when they are playful. She loves you.

I agree totally to the bottle of water to spray and that movement under the blankets is just toooo much to handle for a cat.
Another trick is when she is coming close to bite you hiss at it, like a cat would do. It'll get the picture that it's not a good idea.

This mysterious, moving thing under the covers is totally enticing to your kitten. She will give up on it eventually when she realizes it isn't a mouse.

if it's just while you're sleeping keep the door closed, but if it's while you're awake too, then get a spray bottle w/ water in it and spray it with the bottle as soon as it happens. Pretty soon the cat will just stop the behavior.
