YUMMMMO, what time is dinner? Just kidding, it is more simple than you think, just buy the legs already cooked or buy them fresh and boli with basil and onion and carrots, then serve. Also serve with potatos and rice, delicious together, corn on the cobb is also a good favorite. If you really want details, email me and I will be glad to help you...

RE:
How many pounds of crab legs should I prepare for 3 people?
First time preparing crab legs at home. Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially how much to prepare, how to prepare, and what to serve with it.

I saw someone go through SEVEN PLATES of King crab legs a couple of weeks ago at a restaurant on a night when you can have all you can eat for $19.95. Most of the weight is in the shell so go order more rather than less so no one will be disappointed that they didn't get enough. You can always have the leftovers the next day.

no less than 1 pound per person. id go with 1 and a half pounds or 2 pounds per person. steam the legs, or boil for no more than 5 minutes, less if the legs are small.
make sure you have little pots of melted butter to dip, and some lemon wedges.
dont make anything too heavy for sides.
a good salad, with babygreens, tomatoes, and cucumbers is a great side, and some grilled veggies are great to go along with this meal.

Serve about 2 lbs. per person. I prefer steaming any shellfish over boiling water rather than boiling it IN the water. Buy a nice commercial crab boil spice and put it in your water before you start to steam your crab legs. If your pot is tightly covered the temp. of the steam is actually higher than the boiling water at the bottom of the pot, so steam your crab legs for about 10 minutes. Some nice side dishes are corn on the cob, a rice pilaf, mixed salad. Don't forget the melted garlic butter! YUUUMMMMMM!

If it were for 3 people in my family or my husband's family....definitely at least 1.5 lbs for each person....cuz we can kill some crab legs.
At restaurants they usually give you 1lb....but that always leaves me wanting more....so I would say for the 3 of you about 5lbs....and it also depends on if you have any sides planned...potatoes are filling...so they may not eat as much crab legs if they also have potatoes to eat
Yummy....I have some in the freezer and now I want them!!
Don't forget to throw some "Old Bay Seasoning" in the pot when you cook 'em! Enjoy!

You should prepare around 1-1.5 pounds per person. Remember, you can always put the leftovers in the fridge! You can serve it with melted lowfat butter. It tastes really good that way.
