Im 13 and my cousin is 14. And i want to know is it a sin to just like your cousin in a boyfriend girlfriend way. We have fun with eachother. And next year our family is going on a trip including my cousin and I'm wondering do i ask him does he truly like me?

I don't know if its a sin or not but it sure is screwed up. Really you don't want to pursue this, that will stick with you forever and you will regret it later on.

It's not necessarily a sin, at least I don't know of any religion where you are expressly forbidden from doing something like that. However, socially it is not acceptable. Especially if you are first cousins. While you're not the first person to do this, heck even Einstein married his first cousin, there is a great risk if something should happen and you wind up pregnant. Since you both have a fairly similiar genetic makeup, it's almost certain that the child will have many serious problems.

So, I really wouldn't recommend doing it, but if you do, at least know what you're getting into. Because many people would look upon something like that as very weird.

Its fine, some countires its illegal, but here it isnt

Indians marry first cousins, lots of countries accpet this as the norm.
Other people just have infatuations, the similarities in people are what attract us in the first place, it may be just a crush, considering you are a teenager,
but even if you were adult, there's nothing 'wrong' with it.

It is sooooo not a sin to like your cousin. In the 1600's many families who were religious married their family members. Since your'e family, you have things in common.You should ask him but be careful when or how you ask him. You don't want to blurt it out while it's dinner time. Then, make sure that you trust him well enough to start a relationship. Some family members might mock you or think of you as weird, but stay strong girl, because you should
able to like(or even love) anyone you want.

to answer your question- its not a sin.
in some cultures this is acceptable and encouraged(like in india where if you're poor and have a daughter married off to a cousin the dowry doesn't cost as much). take the indian cultuture for example where SOO MANY PEOPLE(because they're so old school and poor) marry their 2nd,3rd or 4rth degree cousins. or even FDR marrying eleanor roosevelt....

but here are some VALUABLE AND FURTURISTIC REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY!!!!
1. genetically transmitted deseases- passed down your family line and most do not have permenant cures
2. family tension- ok lets just say you guys both said ok and went out.......and then what if you guys broke up(most teen relationships wind up this way)...this will be soo akward for both of you....
3. wow, theirs over 1 billion teens in the world, how do you know you're cousin is the one?

Hey, that sound just like me girl!!!! I am 13 and my cousin is 14. His name is Dustin. I live in Colorado and he lives in Michigan. He is nice and very attractive. Its not a sin because you can't help to be attracted to someone. I am adopted soo, my cousin really related to me...technically. But don't stress or worry about it at all. It'll pass. There is absolutely nothing with that. The whole social taboo against marrying close cousins was because rare genetic diseases tended to occur more often between closely related people. You're 13...go out and have fun.

As for the morality of it... that's different.

I think several states still allow cousins to marry and more than a several allow second cousins to marry.

Check with state law or a priest.

I had the same problem-- I don't know... But, there will be plently of other boys in your life, and soon, you will get over him-- trust me. Just try to avoid letting him know you like him because he might flip out if he doesn't like his cousin like that, and tell all the family!

Perhaps as friends, yes. Liking him or loving him means that you like his personality, or something about his character that really appeals to you. Nothing wrong with that at all.
