It provides the structure and methods for me to deepen my relationships with my deities. It allows me to meet and join with others of a like mind. It provides a sense of community where we all have the same basic priorities and outlook on life.

Absolutely NOTHING!!!! Religion is for people who need a crux in their lives. Instead of drugs, alcohol or friends! Who the hell in the last 1million yrs+ has seen this higher entity?? Do we not say that seeing is believing? Yet a third of the population ( maybe more, maybe less) put their trust in this figment of our imaginations!!! Religion is the root of all evil and should be made illegal!!!!! Its been the cause of nearly every uprising and war since time began!!! Oh and another thing, in religion whomever the god, there are rules to live by, but don't worry if ya break the rules, cos you'll be forgiven, no matter what!!! So why the hell are there rules?

Religion is a man made concept, one that Jesus came to do away with. Faith is what I have, and it honestly does see me through the bad times. I'm having a particularly bad time right now, hubby cheated on me recently, and I don't know how the future will pan out but I know God wants my marriage to be strong and good, and He is bringing out all the crap we have carried around, so we can deal with it and move on with a lightened load. This was even prophesied in the church a while ago, so to see it come about is amazing....I know God is in control and I'm having faith that things will get better.

Not a lot really. Seems to me to be the route of much evil in the world. Far east, Nothern Ireland, two world wars, Saddam, Iotolla Homani, you name it and religion is likely to be at the bottom of it. Damn vicar refused to even marry me to my wife cos I had been divorced. Is he light years behind and then wonders why his church is so damned empty on Sunday

Sorry for all you believers out there but Enid Blyghton wrote a damn good story and the bible to me is a collection of these written a few years ago. I'll get off my soapbox now

Religion do for me? Hmm, maybe its just me but I try to involve it more in the small things of life. It makes me love my family and thus all humanity a litle bit more, causes less frustration when I drive, give me a bit more incentive to consider other people's feeling, makes me struggle a bit more against my faults etc. I would like to say it makes my life better, but I dont know, I struggle daily against myself. But yes I do try to make lives of others around me better, not much just a bit:)

-Sam

P.S: It also makes this probably the only place where I talk about it, I prefer silent work myself, because of how often religion is misunderstood and also because I feel shallow and diminished (because of my very human struggles:) ) when I talk about it. That helps?

It brings me peace beyond understanding. When I lay down at night to go to sleep, I do it peacefully, not wondering what would happen if I never awoke. I have the knowledge that I would be with my Lord & Savior. I feel his precense in my life in everything I do. During happy events in my life I look to him and thank him for the blessings. During sad times, I look to him and thank him for the trials. If I never had a valley to walk through or a mountain to climb I would never know the joy of reaching the end of the valley or the top of the mountain. Jesus Christ is my source of Joy, Laughter, and has brought me to a point in my life where I can honestly love even those that some of you out there might say don't deserve to be loved. I have been able to pray for those that have hurt me with love in my heart. This is only something he could have helped me to do. I could go on and on, but I think you get my meaning. He has brought meaning to my life and joy to my soul. May his blessings be upon you.

Religion, Nothing. Spirituality everything.

I see the love of God in everything,
I have hope for the future, I look forward to passing over when the sands of time run out in my personal hourglass.

I look forward to meeting loved ones who have already gone before, I look forward to meeting my every loyal companion AKA my master guide, who has helped for 40 years and will probably help me for a good few more.
If I study diligently and take my lessons seriously, I look forward to becoming one with God again, eventually.
I look forward to meeting the most bodacious Jesus of Nazareth, or the Nazarine as spirit calls him, and thank him for the insights and guidance he has given mankind.

I follow no religion, I follow and loveGod.

Love and Light
M

NOTHING ITS A PILE OF CRAP!!!! Take a look at the world people if god/allah exists then he is pretty crap and definitly does not deserve to be praised he deserves a good slap. Religion is a waste of time it just gives people with no lives something to fill their days with.

I like david_b's answer - that made me chuckle. Religion doesn't do a lot for me, I have to confess. I do have my own faith though, but don't shove it down people's throats.

Prepare yourself for quite a few vehement Christians replying to this - they really, REALLY love having the chance to spout off on this subject!!!
