As usual, Kookoo Bananas is off his rocker... people DO go around using black pride as a reason to hate and damage other peoples. I'm not saying they do this all the time, but it is done. Why is it ok for one group and not the other? Because us white folk have had it so great for so long and it just isn't fair. LMAO.
Destined: So, since various other groups of people have been held as slaves, they can have pride in themselves too? Only a group that has never been enslaved can't have pride? How does that make any sense? ALL groups have been enslaved at some point or another... black people do NOT have a monopoly on the slave issue!!!!

I agree and understand that white people should be able to say "white pride" but it brings too many people to be scared and think of KKK and other hate groups. You see the white people have been in power so long and most minorities are used to being, well, the minority. So most feel unfomfortable when an advantaged group gains some kind of authority if you will. I believe it's wrong to have this way of thinking but right now it's just the way it is. But I'm sure no one would mind if you said "Italian pride" or "German Pride" or something like that but probably not "white pride"

Because Black Pride and Asian Pride people don't go around spreading hatred against other races like White PRide does. The KKK has ruined what White Pride was and now it's a sign of racism and ignorance. Hence, not ok.

It seems that there are people out there with "white" pride but it's specific to their particular nation of heritage, but perhaps, now that I think about it, more from nations that have been repressed? Not sure.
We live in a Lithuanian neighborhood and the people there have a lot of pride in their culture. Same with Polish and Italian neighborhoods in our city.
Without writing an thesis on this (tho I'm sure it's been done) I would say that white is not a culture so much as black or asian. (Although I know some Black people who feel they have more in common with a "white" culture than black culture because of the neighborhood they grew up in and what their parents exposed them to.) White cultures are tied to a nationality - Irish, Polish, German, etc. So if you see something like "White Pride" as opposed to "Proud to be Irish" (lol), some alarms go off in your head. You probably can blame white supremicists for that because they would probably be the ones to have created that negative image. White, to them, excludes Jews, Blacks, Asians, certain religions, etc. If I see a guy in my neighborhood walking around with a white pride tattoo, I'm gonna go hide because something is about to go down and I do not want to be around for it. (The city I live in is predominantly Black but I am White.) But if I see someone with the Irish flag tattooed on him, I wouldn't think twice.
In essence, it does seem OK in our country for white people to have pride in their heritage because their heritage is not "white", it's their country of origin.
One more thought to some of the comments like 'if we had all white TV there'd be a riot.' For years and years, American society has excluded people of color from entertainment. There should be BET because there haven't been a lot of programs on mainstream media that supports a positive image of Blacks. Racial stereotypes were rampant in media for years. Only until maybe the past 15 years or so, have these been more subtle.

Nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage. But why be proud to just be "white"? What does that really mean? You were born white, big deal. So was I and millions of others. Move on, nothing special there.
Where's your family from? What's your TRUE heritage? That's a real source of pride. Do a little research on that and get some real heritage.

It is because the idea of the white man was created to segregate. Before we distinguished whites or black, we thought British or French was our heritage. Do some research. Real heritage is deeper than the skin so white pride has no meaning other than segregation. While blacks in america have so much common history and heritage that they have created a heritage and history to become their own minority. They earned the right to have black pride tattooed because they lost their heritage before slavery to do that.

Because through the years white pride has been associated with negativity. When ppl stop lynching, burning crosses, and dragging ppl it may change. Just keep in mind that loving your race does not mean you have to hate other races.

I see what you're saying and I do agree. Like its ok for black people to have BET but if there was an all white TV channel there would be rioting in the streets.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying. It's just the way society is. When white people do something that is considered to be "white" it's racist to other people, but when a minority does it it's ok. I've also noticed that white people are now the minority, but if white people say they are the minority they get attacked.
