What can Mexicans do to improve the quality of life for Mexico's poor so that they can live a life fit for human beings there in Mexico, and they won't be driven to immigrate illegally to the U.S.? Of course, if they wanna immigrate anywhere legally, that's fine. But really, what can Mexicans there do? And what can Americans do to put pressure on the Mexican gov't to take care of its citizens?
Intelligent answers only, please. No hatred, only reason.

AnthonyPaul, I specifically said INTELLIGENT ANSWERS ONLY, NO HATRED. Your reply is disgusting, are you not capable of internalizing the word "typo???" How you call me stupid anything, this is so insulting!!! That was a typo. Why would I write "Mesicans" if I'm of Mexican descent???? It was not an insult, it was a TYPING MISTAKE.

I appreciate the input from people. What I am actually asking, though, is for input from Mexicans . What can the Mexicans there do to pressure the gov't there to take better care of its poor? How can the Mexican gov't create a middle class there? That's my question. Oh yeah, and I'm also asking what American citizens can do to help. Instead of sitting on one's nalgas and complaining about the illegals, Americans should actually something to pressure the Mexican gov't to take care of its people. Vicente Fox is responsible for Mexicans. How can he sleep at night, knowing that so many there are living in squalor?
I'm American. Who can I write to? Who can I email? What can Mexicans in Mexico do? These are my questions. Thanx.

Vivian Mexican girl: This was not meant as a hate question, it's a sincere one. I typed "Mesicans" by mistake, since the s key is next to the x key. It's very sad to think of a country where most of its citizens are poor and appx 2% of the population owns the wealth. I believe in the elimination of extremes of poverty and wealth, and wanted to know what 1) Mexicans in Mexico can do about it, and 2) if there was anything that Americans can do as well. Droves of Mexicans come to the U.S. illegally, and although it's taxing on American $$$, still, I sympathize with their plight. If droves of people are doing this, things must be so miserable where they come from. I would love for Mexico to be srong and stand on its own feet, that's all.

They can go back home and protest...
I can vouch...that if they went back and stood up to their own corrupt government, that'd I'd support their protest.

Well NAFTA has had a huge effect on Mexico. It has created some new jobs and some new economy but only for a few limited places and people. For the most part the the jobs are awful awful jobs that pay very very little - and these are AMERICAN companies. They are called maquiladores. Many times they are forced to shut down but never clean up and leave abandoned factories there FULL of toxic waste. How can Americans operate these places over there - polute Mexico, polute the water, killing people, encourage corruption and poverty, paying workers $1 an hour and working them 15 hours a day and then ***** when they cross the border when they have a huge hand in pushing them across? NAFTA has been hell for so much of Mexico. The government likes it because it improves their economy supposedly but at what price??
The number one problem in Mexico is the corrupt government. Everytime a guy tries to fix things he is either killed, or not allowed to take office. Did you know the whole "Florida recount" thing happened in Mexico just last month too? They cheated and the guy who will now be Mexico's new president is just as corrupt as the rest of them. The police, the government is just terrible - someone needs to fix it. They are very very greedy meanwhile people are dying and living in extreme poverty and the government not only stops it but encourages it and does it themselves.
Mexico needs another Revolution and is long overdue for one. There should be one very soon. The Zapatistas are trying but the government just attacks them and right now they are retreated in hiding in the jungles waiting. It will take some time but eventually soon it will happen.
Vicente Fox is bad but he is not as bad as the rest of them. Watch and see how the new guy acts. You don't even know half of what goes on down there - and neither do I - I am still learning. If we thought the American govt was bad and 9/11 coverup and all that was bad - Mexico is 10000 times worse.
The average person can't do much except join the Zapatistas... It's all a waiting game right now . You can't write to the Mexican government because no one there gives a ****. Maybe start boycotting or pressurizing these American Companies that go down there and **** with things. Write to the American Government and ask them to change / enforce international law. .. There's not really much to be done now.

What if we stopped all aid to Mexico? We send billions of dollars there every single year that the poor never see. Churches send all kinds of aid, money and supplies that often do not get to the poor. If we told the Mexican Government to clean up their act or lose the money...would some good come out of it for the poor?
Maybe those at the top who line their pockets should be put in jail in the Philippines....then they would possibly change their ways..
While I am sad for the poor in Mexico, I am also aware of many poor in the Philippines who desperately want to be here...and the poor in many other nations.
We are bringing a friend and her son here from Belize...but the illegal situation has made it hard for us to get her papers through. I am angry that the actions of illegals have hurt those who are struggling to "do it the lawful way". Our friend is paying the price because she is honest.
We have assured her that this is the only way and will benefit her in the long run....

Mexico would be a better place to live if the government wasn’t so corrupt. I’m sure there would be a lot less migration into the United States if the monies in Mexico were used to better the entire country and not a select few.
Anthony Paul, you have the audacity to call Dolores “loser/stupid” when you can’t even give an intelligent answer to a simple question. If you look in the dictionary under “Loser” you will probably see your picture there.

The corruption in Mexico is deep rooted and has been going on for generations, nothing short of a civil war will fix it....Being the average Mexican citizen tend to be pacifists, I don't see anything really changing....
The problem is there is no middle class and the wealth is held among a few select individuals. USA would prefer to stay out of Mexico's affairs, even though US has a lot of influence over Mexico, both countries need each other for many reason's, I won't go into here....
US would not want to alienate Mexico in any way, that's why they do not get involved in Mexican politics....

Mexico's citizens need to create an uproar in order to get the government to take action. Sadly, too much corruption exists in Mexico and people have lost faith. They feel that no matter what they do, nothing will make a change. Lack of jobs and poverty exist throughout the country and causes us to migrate, even if it means doing it illegally. Sadly, their is little Americans can do to make a change. What needs to happen is short of a civil war.

For one thing Mexican citizens need to hold their corrupt government accountable. The entrenched, unscupulous ruling class in the Mexican goverment steals the wealth of the state for their own profligate usage.
