well it depends on how attached he is. Maybe go to the local car parts store and buy some touch up paint and fix it before he gets back.
Or you could just not tell him and he will think it happened when no one was in the car

Sit him down.Let him know what you did.Explain to him that it was a accident.They tell him that if you let me I would pay for the damage.It might take some time but I can pay it off for you.
