No more heavy lifting for a few days.
Do light aerobic and stretching to keep the blood flowing, heals faster.
Next time, when lifting heavy; lift and HOLD the weight for 60 seconds. Lift every OTHER day. You will get the same results, many times better, when you lift and HOLD. And no pain afterwards.
Warning; do this only if you want a big and massive body.

When you work out you WANT the muscle to tear. Thats how it gets bigger and stronger. What you're describing sounds like you pulled a muscle. Big difference. Put some icy hot on it and have someone maybe give you massage. Let me guess. You don't work out on a regular basis and you thought you could just go in and pick up a heavy weight? Most guys do. So some advice. Start light. You should only be able to do about 12-15 reps of a set if you're working out right. Once you get more advanced you should be doing about 20-30 reps with a moderately heavy weight. Meaning you can do the rep with good form and not look like those skinny or obese idiots who go into a gym once a year and try to pick up the heaviest weight they can find. You savvy?

Actually it is perfectly normal for your muscles to tear while working out. Thats how you build muscle, they tear and grow back bigger or something like that. Just continue to move and stretch the sore muscles even though they may be painful, and in a day or 2 they will feel better, I've never taken medication for it before but I imagine asperin of some sort tylonal or advil would help.

increase your vitamin C intake to about triple the daily dosage to help with soreness and go bye some biofreeze "good stuff" if its been more than 2 mons since last workout you just prob burnt yourself out and will be fine in a week and slow down a bit start small. if you workout regularly the same and this just happened you need to see a sports medicine doc
But not a muscle tear.

Meat is crimson, via fact it has a stable blood furnish. Tendons and ligaments are white via fact the blood furnish is fairly undesirable. So a torn muscle will bypass into spasm, and would harm worse; besides the shown fact that it is going to heal greater advantageous and quicker than torn tendons, ligaments, cartilage - and rotator cuffs. Your father will heal in weeks to 3 months. Your ratator cuff would take in to a three hundred and sixty 5 days to totally heal. i understand. i've got torn the two one among my rotator cuffs in seperate incidences (i grow to be attempting to bench press over 3 hundred lbs. each and every time, it took a three hundred and sixty 5 days of rehab.) One vote for a torn rotator cuff.

Use some Bengay for now and see if that helps, you can also try to use heat packs.... It sounds to me like you either pulled a muscle or more likely pinched a nerve... If that's the case try the bengay, and if pain is still there in a day or so, go to your doctor and they will give you some muscle relaxers... Hope you feel better! :)

Muscle sprain.. U worked it too hard and now u need to keep one moving to get it back into shape so it doesn't lose it... neck and back injuries are not good...but do some light work outs like 30 sit ups and alot of stretching from now on.

it isnt a torn muscle because if it was u would of been in agonizing pain. Yet, you must of strained it, or your just really sore. so dont worry, also i wouldnt be working out for a while due to this... If you continue to workout it migh tear, so be careful

Sometimes happens when you over-stress a muscle. Ice it for a day or two, then use heat. And rest those muscles for at least a week.

It could possibly be a slight tear in the muscle tissue, I would recommend you get it checked out by a doctor.
