NO, although some HDDVDs are being sold with the movie on the reverse side in regular DVD format so you could plan for the future while watching your movie today!

The current plan from High Def DVD makers is to provide both HD and standard versions on the same disc. This will allow the disc to be played on a standard player (but not in HD). If the disc is placed in a HD player, that player will find the HD recording and play it.

no-because hi-def movies require the appropriate hardware to display them-regular players do not have this-in some a regular image MAY be displayed-but usually this would apply to players with "proggressive scan" output-though a regular dvd can be played on a hi-def dvd player

yes, but the dvd won't play in hi def, It'll play like a regular dvd.
