You can supplement the dogs daily food with vitamin E oil or Omega 6 oil (fish oil) which you can buy in capsule or liquid form. Another way for your dog to get the extra Omega's is to feed her canned fish. My dogs love it and they get it once a week, skin, bones and all. They like canned Salmon and Mackerel.
You might also want to check with your vet to see if your dog has developed food allergies. She might be allergic to the wheat, corn, or other ingredients in the dog food she is eating. Food allergies are a major cause of hot spots and very itchy, inflamed skin (sometimes smelly too).
If your vet doesn't think it's allergies, but some sort of skin disease that changing food and adding supplements don't cure, you might want to consider talking to your vet about putting her on low dose steroids to control the inflammation and itching. That is not an ideal thing to do, but if she is very elderly it might add to her quality of life by making her much more comfortable. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do, and remember to consult with your vet before trying any of the "cures" you find online. Be prepared for most vets to scoff at the more homeopathic methods mentioned above. Good luck!!

Hey ,have any eggs in the fridge that are 'old' ? go separate two whites from their yolks and pour over small handful of regular dogfood! let doggy eat! tomorrow use olive oil in two oz increments on food until skin looks clear! next week follow -up with whole egg once a week until you two part eternally! Eggwhites are a natural skin and hair care! Note : the Oils will soften then build up on the hair, oops!

My dog has dry skin as well. Feed her some moist foods, eggs over food, and veg oil to help her skin. I got some special sensitive shampoo from the local pet store as well. They also sell what is called something like Cow Balm or something at feed stores that is good for rubbing in to soften it up, just rub it in really well so it doesn't make matters worse by making her feel damp, but I would ask a vet incase she licks it.

try massaging olive oil after a bath while hair is still slightly damp. If you use a blow dryer, keep it on the lowest possible setting - avoid extreme heat which can over dry and irritate even more. Also look for shampoos with lanolin and or oatmeal. shampoos with tea tree oil is supposed to be good too - helps to cool & sooth

yes I think a drizzle of veggie oil on her food will help, and maybe you can try to dab some Vitamin E oil around the ears or most irritated spots. Check with a vet or groomer before shampooing or conditioning.....

Put a little oil on this dog's food. Salmon oil is also wonderful for dogs. Dont bath her often but if you do, use conditioner on her. Check with your vet for a lotion containing aloe vera that would be safe to put on her.

Drizzle vegetable oil over the dog's dry food. it will help relieve it in time. Continue with it till healed and then at least once a week for maintenance.

Most dogs will moisturize naturally if the male just engages in a little foreplay.
