If you did NOT KNOW that your license was suspended, because you were under "state custody" and the first person who informed you about the issue was a "street cop" well he is the first STATE REP. who told you this... I personally had a similar example and well I wrote a POLITE LETTER explaining teh situation and the department was understandable to that extent, based on the "he was the first person to inform me" clause. If you had to you coudl get a LAWYER to prove your case... the state's system of "networking" is negligent, they should haev known that you were locked down over where-ever and they should have sent you word there, in other words they should have "cross referenced" the system....

I WOULD SAY CLOSE TO A THOUSAND DEPENDING ON HOW MANY TIMES CAUGHT AND WHY YOUR LICENSE WAS SUSPENED I HAD THE SIMILAR TICKET EXCEPT MY LICSENCE WAS NOT SUSPENED IT JUST EXPIRED AND I HAD A PRIOR FOR NO LISENCE AND THAT TIME HE SAID I WOULD BE ON PROBATION FOR FOUR YEARS AND IF I GOT CAUGHT AGAIN WITH IN THAT TIME I COULD GET JAIL TIME IT WASNT A DRIVING VIOLATION IT WAS JUST ME BEING LAZY AT MISSING TIME FROM WORK TO GO DO IT BUT OF CORSE I HAVE THEM NOW BUT THE FINE WAS 1,200.00 AND I PAID IT THAT DAY BUT THEY WILL ALSO ARRAINGE PAYMENTS IF NEEDED

doesn't matter that u were incarcerated. you will have to pay suspension fee, reinstatement fee, plus buy insurance, plus whatever caused you to lose license. (child support, etc.)maybe some court costs.? somewhere between 250.00 and 1200.00
good luck and bring any proof of jailtime to court. they may go lieniant

If you don't want to wait until tomorrow you might want to call the local police station and ask them they should be able to tell you. Good luck
