Ask for change and leave a few bucks on their work station. Or before you go, make sure you have a couple of singles on you.

I usually give 20 or 25% depending on how happy I am, if I don't have the right change I ask for change for a $5 or $10.

it depends. if it was a 5 just give her the 5 dollar bill because thats a good enought tip. but if its a 10 i would tell her to split it up and keep the change.

I usually tip 15-20% depending on how much I like it. I pay by check, so I never have the problem of dealing with bills!

I always tip 5 dollars for a haircut, anything above and beyond that I tip 7 to 10 dollars.

i tip 15% to 20% - so in your case i would tip $1 for the $5 cut and $1.50 or $2 for the $10 cut.

Plan ahead.
I've got a set figure I give my cutter.
I also give her a bonus at the end of the year.
She is the best!

Regarding tips, nothing takes longer than a bad haircut waiting to grow out.
If you have a good cutter, make sure you tip accordingly.

I always make sure I have the exact cash I want to tip ready before I go there. So I don't have to worry about what change they gave me.

Well, if you like your hairdresser be sure to tip at least 20%. Now if your just going to one of those chain hair cutting places (like my boyfriend does) I would either be blunt and ask for ones or be sure that you have ones on you when you go.
