My girlfriend gave me a lame birthday present during lunch today, and I laughed at her. Would you take offense if you were in my girlfriend's shoes, or would you realize that you gave me a lousy gift and try to do better next year?

She isn't worthy of you anyway; it's well beyond time to move on. A lame gift should simply be the nail in her coffin.

"It isn't the gift but the sentiment behind it." I don't remember who first said it, but it is true. Your girlfriend tried to give you a present to acknowledge your birthday and your friendship. You laughed at both, and insulted her.

Even if it was a lame gift, your laughing at it put your friendship in danger, if it hasn't ended it already. You need to apologize to her NOW. After that then you can try to find a diplomatic way to explain why her gift was lame. Until that time you may no longer count on her as your friend.

You need to look at things from the other person's point of view. How would you feel if you had given her a gift, that you thought was small and nice, and she laughed in your face.

No...it is totally unacceptable to laugh at her....no matter what it was. She may have done it for a reason like it was something that you talked about or maybe it was something that she thought would mean something to you.

On the other hand if she did it as a gag gift...yes

But if I had done I would be crushed cause if I thought it meant something.

yes it is unacceptable it' cold and callous. unless she gave it as a joke. If she did what she thought was right you just shot her feelings all to hell. don't her like that accept the gift and realize that it was given from the heart. Thank her for thinking of you that is what matters!!!

If it was meant to be a joke gift, sure you laugh. But if it was something she honestly thought you'd like, she should have cracked you over the head with it and dropped you like a bad habit.

Her next gift to you should be a color photo of her fcuking some other guy. Now that would be something to laugh at! LOL!!!

its the though that counts u may have been a bit harsh on her, she did her best, it better then nothing, even if u didnt like the gift, u could have said thanx, for giving it to u, she would probably feel hurt & never want to give u a present again

You might not get a gift next year. Think of how you would feel. Someone went through the trouble of thinking of what you might like, got you something, and you laughed at the attempt. Maybe you don't deserve anything next year.

I would have gathered up the rest of my pride, left, and then cried about it. If someone gives you a gift, you should always graciuosly accept and pretend to love it, even if you don't. If I were her, I'd never give you another gift, and I'd consider ending the relationship. You were wrong and very hurtful towards her.

At least she took the time to buy you something. Give her some credit. Laughing in her face may have you in the dog house for weeks.

Are you freaking kidding me??? I would have ripped that gift out of your hand hit you in the head w/it and left your ***! You are a rude and selfish person and you will probably be alone most of your life. You should appreciate any gift she gives you not matter if you like it or not. Jerk!
