No offence but have your husband checked out for a child molester - YOU NEVER KNOW - ESPECIALLY SINCE HE JUST MET THE DUDE 5 MONTHS AGO. Then after you do that and the father seems ok - if the dad doesn't mind and he'd do better in school up there - then maybe it would be to your son's best interest to go to a school semester up at Dad's house by a school there. You said he doesn't live with you anyway - he lives with Grandma & Grandpa - which give me some sort of insite as to how you raised him. Don't know what's going on there - and don't want to know. Good luck.

it is obvious that you dont trust your ex with your boy. or else you wouldnot have asked this.ask your son if he wants to stay with you or not. let him take his own decision. where was the father before this time?if he is not responsible enough to stay with you all these years then he is not responsible enough to keep your son. do what YOU think is the best for your son. dont listen to others. if you have doubts then dont do it. always listen to your inner self.

He's 14, why wouldn't he have a say? Unless, he's unruly ... is that why he's not living with you?
Usually 14-year-olds are capable of making such decisions.
