Not impossible at all, nor as costly as some think.

If we properly staff our border patrols, build a wall, use sensors, remote controlled drones, and radar stations, we can slow the raging flood of illegal aliens coming over our border down to a trickle. It's not "impossible," in fact, it probably wouldn't even be all that difficult, we just haven't made the effort.

1: Begin Seriously cracking down on ALL employers who hire Illegals. By this I mean Imposing Hefty fines, and even in sever cases revoke there business licenses.
2: Build a fence. It would need to be one that couldn't be penetraded easily. Simple Razor wire wouldn't do. They'd cut it. I'm not sure if it can be done but I'm think Massive eletric fence.
3: Increase the number of Border Batrol Agents.
4: Build detention facilities to house Illegals and give them there day in court right away. Rather than giving them a court date only to never see them again.
5: Increase the Number of ICE agents So as they can better check into Illegals in the work force.

The U.S. can close the border if the government had balls, but they are not willing to do that , their are all kinds of methods, but when the government will not do the will of the people, the people are screwed, so we can build a wall, we can place troops at the border, and we can prosecute all employers who hire them. When you have a President who is in bed with Fox and Canada and they have meetings behind closed doors, it is really hard to no what is going on, They are out to Globalize this entire Continent, and that means open borders, that is why Europe in being over ran with illegals, the Muslims have almost taken over France and England. Plus they are building a super highway from Mexico to Canada.

Place our Army at the borders,give them the power to stop the illegals from any country .Enforce the excising laws against illegal immigration.No exceptions,no anchor baby short cut.Armed borders.That's the only way to really stop illegals from flooding into this country.
Seek out and find and remove all illegals that are already here and deport them to their home country.Charge Mexico and all the other country's for what this would cost,that would encourage them to stop it on their side of the border ,by creating jobs and paying a livable wage to its own people.

As far as tightening controls on the borders of any country theres not a lot you can do without sufficient manpower. You would need cameras, security stations positioned all along the border to keep illegal immigrants out.

Migration is also a natural globalisation process, maybe it would be more of an idea to understand why they're resorting to coming across illegally or to address the problems in their own country thats making them leave? I assume here you're talking about the mass migration of Mexicans into the US? They're leaving to find jobs to pay for food. Instead of the transnational corporations like Coke and Nike using sweatshops and factories in India and Singapore why not set up business south of the border? Do something to tackle the problem at the very root. Machine gunned bodies and bodies caught in barbed wire will not do any good.

What the government could do

1.Militarize our borders with armed guards that would shoot on site. Investing in some land mines would be effective. And if you really want to turn up the heat, give the guys a little bonus for every illegal he shoots.

2.Make unlawfully entering our country a felony.

3.Deport any of them that they catch at job sites, houses, or on the street.

4. Throw out that PC bullcrap and make English the national language

5.Fine every single businessman that knowingly hires border jumpers

6.Strip any American of their citizenship that smuggles in illegals.

Build jails that are one cell block wide all along the border with razor wire at the top and guard towers every 100 feet.

Whenever another person is caught trying to enter the country illegally add on another cell until the whole border between the US and Mexico is covered.

Well I said it before we need the US Marines to guard our border. They are very serious about their jobs and I think put a stop to this. I don't think the public wants them there because people think that maybe they will start shooting people but that's not true, they will only catch the illegals or turn them back.

Baq2calli has a good starting point. We need to sell the idea that they can't just walk into this country. Any that still get in under the radar need to be prosecuted fully, by the existing laws in place. A matter of fact, I think we need to increase the laws and the penalties to farther drive home the point.
