Basically, your point is "we might as well believe, because if there is a god, then we get the rewards, and if there isn't a god, it won't matter anyway, because we'll just be dead".
If I understood you correctly, and that is your argument, then I have news for you - you are NOT a Christian. To be a Christian, you have to believe without any room for doubt, that Jesus was the son of go, and that you will go to heaven.
Fortunately, as an atheist, I don't have to worry about this, because I'm perfectly content to die and go back to the star dust I came from.

Pascal's wager is crap. Firstly, it makes hypocrites, not believers. If god did exist he probably wouldn't be too thrilled with "Oh yeah, I had faith, you know... just in case". Also, it doesn't take into account the literally thousands of religions out there that are just as likely to be the "right" religion as christianity is. And you do lose something: freedom. You lose your entire real life, waiting for your next imaginary one.
Edit: Obviously you do care, or you wouldn't even have posted. I HAVE thought about it, as you would see, if you bothered to read, and there's the truth of it. Not even my opinion, Pascal's wager (which is what you posted, by the way, in case you haven't figured that one out) is in FACT crap. If you want to see even more reasons why, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal's_Wager#Assumes_God_rewards_belief

I think that you have got some things a little off. We are all Gods children. Jesus was not his one and only son. Jesus also came to Earth as an example of what we can be and what we should try our best to be like. He was not a god. He was a man like you and me. We have all the capabilities that Jesus had. We just haven't strived to achieve what he did. He died on the cross because he wanted to show us that we should care more for others than ourselves. We still cannot employ this concept. I think that the christian faith puts way toooo much worship on a man that never intended to be worshiped. I know what the bible says. I also didn't stop investigating and searching after reading the bible. I have read many many books and educate myself continuously. I have discovered lots of information. Please continue to question things. You have to feel it in your heart that Jesus was not a man who desired worship. Anyway, good luck to you in the future and remember that everyone has their own paths to take in life. We can influence but it is their road to walk down. Good luck to you!!

What you lose is freedom of thought and the ability to reason and logically make decisions for yourselves instead of having them forced upon you under threat of hell and damnation. That loss happens in this lifetime, and if you are wrong it is too late to go back and enjoy life without the rules and judgement of christianity.
By the way, atheists aren't scared by your intimidation tactics "you know what will happen to you.." - I am confident in my beliefs and your childish need to threaten me into agreeing with you is funny. It reminds me of "the boogy monster will get you"!

pascal's wager... it's like playing every combination of the lottery. plus when people use that as a reason to believe i think it really belittles and demeans the true reasons some people have for belief. I don't think I should entrust myself to something I don't believe in, "just in case" If I'm going to believe in something it's because I truly believe it. Not as a catch-all.

What if it turns out that Thor is the one true god and he's really pissed that you worshipped the wrong guy and so he has you skinned alive, but he's understanding of people who just never believed in him and so he lets them into Valhalla anyway.
In this scenario, YOU end up the loser. Isn't that valid enough reason to start worshipping Thor instead of Jesus?

This illustrates one of my biggest problems with religion; it's so often packaged as a threat. If you act like this you're going to hell, if you don't believe what I believe you're going to hell, if you don't do what I say you're going to hell...
You can't coerce people into believing like you do anymore, it is no longer the middle ages. the world grew up. Maybe you should too, and stop talking to make-believe friends like my four year old daughter does.

You have a 50% chance of being wrong.
I have a 50% chance of being right.
OR
You have a 50% chance of being right.
I have a 50% chance of being wrong.
However you choose to look at it, it is a stalemate.
Neither Christians or Atheists will win in this argument.

I would rather stand by what I believe in and risk going to hell than submit to something I cannot agree with. Sorry.
