I could never figure out why guys would want multiple wives. Believe me, one is more than enough. But hey, I can't see any rational for prohibiting it.

Absolutely not. Most girls who are married into polygamous relationships are too young to know what they are doing and often aren't given much choice. The men are child-molesting, egotistical perverts who think they can have whatever they want.

If, hypothetically, only women of-age who were of a mental capacity to make the decision were involved, then I would not have a problem with it. I am open to freedom of sexual expression if it does not harm anyone. However I don't think polygamy will ever be this way so for the protection of children and women who are too scared to leave the polygamist lifestyle, it shouldn't be allowed.

By the law of the old testament it is completely legal.

But even long ago people only used to marry two wives (or more) in desparate or trying situations. Abraham married another wife because Sarah couldn't have children and SHE SUGGESTED IT as a MERIT FOR HER.

It's hard for the husband and hard for the wife (or wives). They cause him aggravation by getting jealous of each other and fighting for his affection and he will have trouble supporting them financially and emotionally. The Talmud presents it as a stupid idea (before it was banned by Rabbi Gershom in Germany due to his own personal horror) that the younger wife will pull out all his grey hairs and the older one will pull out all his black hairs and he will be bald. The concept is figurative, but goes very far.

Long ago, people were stronger and were able to handle it. Now, we're made of tissue paper.

I don't that it is a good idea because unless you grow up in that life style you would probably get jealous of the other wives. But it would be nice to have someone to talk to and help with the kids. Kind of like a sister I guess.

Well, Since God chooses to have about the same number of Men and Women born, how would this ever work out on a large scale?

Wars would be a MUST to thin our the Male extra population.

Peace!

I would like to say if an average american man sleeps with a different woman every night then why is not okay for men to have for wives? At least when muslim men marries girls(virgins) they know who they are sleeping with unlike american men who sleep around with any kind of woman and that's why you have people infected with STD's and aids!

It is a PERSONS choice and I do not think there should really be any RESTRICTIONS from a government end of teh stick... however each person would be wise to place a "restricted area" sign over this zone in their minds.... i mean if they wish to live a BETTER LIFE and FULFILL THEIR DESTINY....

I think women should be allowed to have 4 husbands as long as she can take care of each of them.

I say whatever floats your boat. We are animals, and no god or law can hold us chained. God is manmade, laws are manmade, if your insticts tell you to have a second partner, or even more partners - go for it. It's healthy, it's normal.

Chimpanzees do it, for example.

Only when the population can support it.

Personally would never marry more than one, and only once.
