Yes on children, except of course for rare medical conditions that compel it. If an adult want to mutilate himself fine, but we should not permit parents to permanently mutilate their children needlessly.

This is a religious issue, or an opinion issue at best. You can't outlaw religious practices that don't negatively affect the health of a child. If you do that, every Jew (and many Christians) in the country will have to either abandon their faith or become outlaws.

If it bothers you so much, you should invest your money in research to develop a prosthetic foreskin for the poor victims of over-zealous, penis-snipping parents. Maybe Bill and Melinda Gates would be interested in funding it.

Not outlawed but discouraged in the non Jewish population, how come all you "Christians" are not saying "It was put there by God so it should stay"? You are all hypocrites and pick and choose what you want to believe in.
There are NO medical benefits to circumcision, it was originally done by non-Jewish people to discourage masturbation. The hospitals have a vested interest in keeping people circumcising their baby boys as it makes them so much money

Well, except for Jewish males, it's a pretty optional practice. In America, I think people do it as a matter of aesthetics, and because it's easier to teach a boy to keep himself clean without the foreskin there- it increses the risk of infection in a child not mature enough to understand yet. But only in the Jewish community is it still a requirement under their religious law, and in fact some Jewish couples have begun to break from that tradition for all sorts of reasons.

If you're having a baby boy, what you do in terms of his anatomy is a decision only you and your wife can make.

Well it is barbaric and there is no clinical reason to do it.

There is the health argument but if you take care of yourself Im sure it wouldnt be an issue at all. Many studies have shown that there is no benifit to it whatsoever. In fact they say that sex is much more pleasurable for people who havent had it done.


There is an issue with it though (and also with some of the methods used to do it).

If I was to have a kid and my religion dictated that I tattoo the kid once he was born Im sure I would be thrown in prison for child abuse - however if your religion dictates that you physically mutulate your child its a non-issue. Eventhough, later in life the kid could have the tattoo removed, yet not have the circumsision reversed.

It is barbaric, abusive and just wrong when you think about it.

Some moils (sp?) actually ritualistically suck (YES - SUCK) the blood from the kids penis during the circumsision. If thats not blatent child/sexual abuse I dont know what is!

If you would like to wait until you are an adult to be circumcised and go through three days of unmentionable pain, then be my guest. I am glad my parents had me circumcised when I was a newborn---and I am not Jewish. It seems to me that your desire to have circumcision outlawed might be anti-Semitic. Jesus loves you.

A Jewish boy is normally circumcised when he is 8 days old.

PS Actually, when it's done at that age. 3 days later it's all healed up.

in a way, its good for you. its more sanitary. but i understand what your saying....it should be your own decision. most get circumcised when still a young baby. but if forced when a young child...then yes, it should be outlawed. either should be done as a baby with parents concent or an adult with their own concent.
