He is here on a TPS and has a work permit. He has been here 11 years. We have applied for residency and I am curious if anyone has an idea of how long it takes to get a response from immigration.

you can check the application times online at uscis.gov
but it varies per state and location in the state.....
can take months to years.....
mine took little less than a year to get my conditional permanent residency after my husband and I applied.... i was on a student visa previously for about 7 years (continously, not once out of status).... I applied in Fl, and my lawyer actually was surprised how fast it took us.... but it just depends on your case also.... and what assets you bring to the country I guess.... like education etc..... check the uscis website for the processing times, you may also sign up for email notifications for whenever anything is done to your case.... but as I said your case varies depending on the situation.....

It takes quite awhile to actually become a citizen from what I understand. My husband also has a work permit and he's been here for 10 years, but I'm pretty sure they said it will take about 5 years to become an actual resident after you apply. Good Luck to you and your husband:o)

My husband came here on a student visa, we applied for an adjustment of status and recieved a receipt from immigration about 3 months later and 3 months after that(6 months after appliying) we received his workers permit. We already had one scheduled interview but we couldnt find a sponser and i didnt make enough , so some how or another our Attorney got our interview postponed. So anyways i would say you should hear from immigration with in 3 months you should receive something from them . We registered with them online and so they send up emails. You can check the status of your case online.
