I don't own one but I sell them. I & most of my customers prefer the 6 cyl. though. Some of my customers have bought the 4 cyl & I know of no problems.
My personal opinion of the 4 cyl....it was just ok, years 01-04 & better with manual trans. 05-07 better , even with automatic, however with the automatic, 1st gear is kind of a dog, but it shifts into 2nd pretty quick so even that 'doggy' 1st gear isn't so bad.

I think the late model 4cyl's are as good or better than many of the others (small SUV's ) on the market, with more space than most & 07's have a better warrantee than the 'competition'

If you're looking at the 4cyl to save gas, you might want to consider the Hybrid

The Hybrid is a 4 cyl, with electric boost & CVT trans, It is just as fast & powerful as the 6cyl, but uses about half the gas as the 6cyl

There's only 2-3 mpg difference between the 4 & 6 cyl engines .but with the Hybrid theres a huge difference.

Yes, the Hybrid costs about $5000, more but there is a $2600 tax break, combined with the gas savings it could actually be cheaper in the long run.

I personally saved over $100 a month in gas with the Hybrid vs the 6 cyl.
$100 a month over a 60 month loan = $6000 , so the Hybrid can be less than the non-hybrid , even without the tax savings (which I can't take advantage of anyway, but you can).
