Being a developer I don't like to have shortfalls in my caffine intake, so ensuring I spill as little as possible in the 50m walk from the canteen to my desk is paramount for me and my colleages, help us! The tray is round, about foot in diameter, made of metal.

Okay...you will probably think I am nuts, but this is so true. DO NOT LOOK AT IT! When you are walking and concentrating on not spilling the drinks/ liquids you will. If you take your eyes off of them...they will not jiggle or sway. This is coming from one of the clumsiest people out there who waited tables in my early twenties and never spilled a drop! It is all about relaxing! ;)

Hahahaha.

Place mugs just around the middle of the tray with paper towels or napkins even spread beneath them for traction. Place steadiest hand in middle of the bottom of the tray. Use other hand to maintain balance should anything start to slide. Supporting from the bottom is far better than grabbing by the sides.

Also be sure that there are no obstacles in your path before setting out. Ensure that your shoes are tied and none of your clothing is loose enough to catch on anything. Visualize your goal and take steady breaths. Ignore any diversions.

May your coffee or tea be delivered safely.

Carry it on your finger tips. All five. First, make sure each mug is placed evenly around to distribute the weight equally and place hand under the tray on fingers and balanced. Your fingers will act like shocks from your walk.

Do not palm it or flat hand it or the tray will tilt with your hand's unevenness. Plus the movement of your arm will shake the tray. The level of the tray does not matter, it can be waist high to over your head b/c your fingers will absorb all the force and vibration.

The best way to carry this tray would to be with one hand flat on the bottom of the tray with the tray resting on your shoulder in a balanced manner. Take note from waitstaff in dining establishments; less effort, able to carry more, and no spillage. Happy caffeine intake!!

first distribute the weight evenly on the tray, mostly in the center. then just lift it up and set weight on palm of strong arm and use the other hand to maintain the balance. be careful when removing items from tray - when the weight shifts it could cause a disaster.

For a developer, shouldn't you be smart enough to figure it out for yourself?? You sound a little spoiled. Were you waited on too much in your lifetime to not have the ability to carry a mug for yourself??

get a wheeled cart with air filled tires, not the solid wheels. or you could try keeping the liquid in a covered pot until you are ready to drink it.

Put paper napkins under the cups - it helps with traction.
