There are products you can purchase, to spray on surfaces that cats can smell, but do not like the smell.
They are usually used to stop your cat scratching at, say at your favourite armchair.
These products are odourless to people.
If you sprayed some on the window sill, your cat will not want to go there. I know these products work as we have two cats, and we used these sprays when they were kittens, and started to scratch or claw the furniture.
You could also use vinegar, but then you would have to put up with the smell too

You might have to move the plants. I keep my window sills clear so my 2 cats can enjoy the fresh air and watch the birds. My plants that need a lot of sun are in hanging pots by the windows. That's good that he stays off the counters. Mine sneak on the counters and we find wet paw prints.

The double stick tape, or basically the obtrusive sparkling packing tape (no longer duct tape) laid sticky side up in 10" lengthy strips on the sill. The cats gained't like the sticky on their paws and could leave the sills on my own. i have by no skill is popular with the cat repellants to artwork all that properly. Pepper isn't a lot of an decision, it could be too unfavorable to their eyes and respiration. attempt the tape. it could be both" huge stuff. it really is worked properly for us with quite a few cats who all necessary to carry close what became 'secure' to bypass on in the residence. It kept them off the right of the aquarium, the right of the e book case, the computer visual reveal unit, the fringe of the range, and so on.

Did it ever cross your mind that your cat might actually LIKE sitting on the window cill and looking at the world outside? All cats like to see what is going on.

What other things does your cat like to do that inconvenience you? What else can you attempt to prevent it from doing? It isn't a toy, it isn't there for your amusement or entertainment. My advice would be to remove the 'plants and things' and let the cat sit where it wants to sit.

You can spray the window sills with a vinegar and water solution using enough vinegar so that you can just about smell it, but not so much that it stinks your room out!
If this doesn't work, experiment with other strongly scented substance, you're bound to find one that works!
Unless of course, your cat is like my pair, nothing stops the little beggars, they've broken three wine glasses, a mug and an ornament in the last couple of months. I've tried everything, but some cats are just immune to control!

Cats like sitting on window sills as they get a better view of everything, especially if you live high in a flat or have an upstairs. It's also comfy and warm inside!! They can sit and swear at the birds all day long.

You said plants, there are plants that cats dont like the smell of, like mint

There is a special paper that you can actually get for cats to keep them off of counters and tables - it has a rough, abnormal surface that slightly resembles bubble paper. My suggestion is to put this under your plants, on the window sill - cat's do not like to walk on these surfaces as it is uncomfortable for them. Try this method out!

why do u think the cat wants to be by the window sill? ... THEY LOVE THE LIGHT and the warmth of the sun. naturally cats do this. maybe you can relocate your plants ... but if all else fails, use a spray bottle filled with water and spray them but tell them no so they know that is not a place they are suppposed to be. but your cat is just being a cat ... what can i say, they love laying in the sun and looking out the windows.

well all the vinegar stuff...

we didnt want the cat going down the bottom end of our garden so we covered all the patio tiles and all the soil and everything with both white and normal vinegar.

it actually attracted the cat if anything.

i heard cats hate garlic, but ya dont want a strong smell of garlic in your house.

they also hate citrus, so slice oranges and lemons and put it on your sills. it will also smell really nice.

if not just move the plants. cheaper and easier option. your cat will make a nice ornament instead.

Cats love sitting on window sills because they love looking out of the window. It would be a shame if you prevented your cat from enjoying looking out of the window. Maybe you could move the plants from at least one of the window sills, so your cat has a place to sit.
