Here's the problem. For starters, you aren't buying the car from Ebay. You are buying from someone else THROUGH Ebay. In my experience, most vehicles being offered on Ebay are from the following groups:

a) dealers who are getting rid of cars they cannot sell locally due to miles, problems, etc. and can bail out of them online because it is a strictly AS-IS deal.

b) Private individuals who have a car they are in love with & want too much money for, or are buried in (owe more than it's worth), or is a piece of junk, or is a low end car that they bought to "restore" and now want too much for (flipping the fixed-up car for more than they have in it).

c) "Collector cars", either real ones, or something that someone merely thinks is collectible (old doesn't mean valuable if it's junk folks), where the value can vary greatly depending on the type and condition of the vehicle, so only people with serious knowledge of the cars involved and their values would even consider buying one online, and are able to afford to fix any problems it might have.

No matter what the car is, it is imperative to be able to inspect it thoroughly and be able to test drive it before you buy it...and that's nearly impossible on Ebay unless the seller happens to be in or close to your area.

By the way, if something's "dirt cheap", then something's wrong...car dealers cruise the ebay listings too, so if something was underpriced it would have been snatched up already. Not to mention, there are scammers who try to sell things they don't have.

Hope this helped.

Be very careful!!! Many cars sold on eBay are loss leaders. Meaning the dealer is willing to unload the vehicle at wholesale price because of the vehicle condition. These cars are typically purchased at an auction from other dealers who did not want to or could not sell the car on their own lot. The cars are not aquired as a trade-in or off-lease vehicle, which is the better method of getting used inventory on your lot. This means you get what you pay for. Cheap cars = higher risk. If you do your homework and get the car inspected BEFORE you buy, then you may be OK. If you buy sight unseen, you're asking for trouble.

eBay is the largest online marketplace and one of the most popular ways to earn an income from home with a PC and internet connection. Selling on eBay is inexpensive and easy to start. Ebay has a number of tools for sellers to maximise sales. These are eBay Pulse, Hot items report, merchandising calendar. By sourcing products at a low price, you can increase your profit. If you find a veh. you really want, schedule an in person inspect if at all possible. At the very least get the vin number and run carfax. Ignore the vehicle inspected icon, this is not confirmed by ebay.

Try asking the seller for a hands on stipulation... if you show up to buy it and it's not a worthy car according to the description... you can back out of the deal. ALWAYS use a credit card so you can put the transaction in dispute if not happy.

My neighbor bought a mini-van off eBay and loved it. My ex-boyfriend's parents bought a Taurus off eBay and liked it, too. Hope that helps.
