I am an MD. This is a very common problem with diabetics. Diabetes is really a disease of the blood vessels more than anything else. If your guy has high blood pressure, sometimes an adjustment in meds can help. Diabetics also tend to have a low sex drive, and a little extra testosterone can sometimes help. Yogi Berra once said:" Most of this game is half mental", and the same applies to sex and getting it up. Then there is always Viagra and the like. I sure hope your guy is not smoking......that would be really stupid of him.

Diabetics who do not control their blood sugar efficiently routinely develop complications involving the blood vessels and the nerves. Diabetic vascular disease is a likely culprit for the erectile dysfunction. However, there could also be peripheral nerve disease that is leading to the problem. This person should go to their physician and discuss this topic. If there are no reasons to avoid doing so drugs such as Viagra and Cialis could be used, but if not there are other treatments that can be utilized such as CaverJect.

I'm not sure what it's called, but there's some kind of device out there that makes it so you can do it whether it's up or not. I saw it in one of those catalog magazines you get in the mail that advertises books, slippers, gadgets, pretty much anything. Hope that helps.
Also, I don't know if you're into herbal remedies, but there's an herbal tea product you can get at health stores called Flor-Essence. It helps with a lot of things. (See link below.) Also, good extracts for diabetes are garlic, ginseng, goat's rue, jambul, nettles, sweet sumach, and fringetree bark, preferably get the liquid extracts of those. And of course, watching his diet is a must.
Hope that helps. =)

Diabetes causes circulatory problems and since getting an erection depends on blood supply to the penis, impotence is not an uncommon problem. Uncontrolled or poorly controlled diabetes makes the problem more likely and also increases the risk of nerve damage that adds to the problem.
Better control may help, but if the problem is advanced, it may be permanent. Then, treatment may require implants, vacuum devices, or injections to get an erection.

If his sugar levels are staying down where they belong, the problem might be more than diabetes. If he's NOT keeping his levels down, he needs to do that ASAP. Either way, he should talk to his doctor about it. Good luck.

the best thing would be to go to the doctor to see if he can give him medication for it.
