I have the Sony H2 and I'm really happy with it, its a bit difficult because it haves lots of setting, but once you read the manual book you realize how much fun it haves and all that zoom.
I look at the canon S3 is and they have similar reviews, so as the H2 is cheaper i got the Sony and its a very good camera.

I definitely would go for the Canon. Canon is making camera's since the beginning of camera's. They were one of the first to start with digital camera's and they are constantly innovating. Sony is just a consumer electronic company, which is also doing camera's. It is less there core business.
However in the comparrison at DPReview it is the Sony which is rated a bit better. But the difference is very small. (too small for me)

you additionally can evaluate the Pentax K100D great. It compares o.k. on fee, has an efficient anti-shake gadget outfitted into the digital camera physique and is robust in low easy circumstances. One income is that any Pentax ok mount lens ever made will artwork on the digital camera, besides the shown fact that with some regulations. There are nonetheless some fairly priced high quality 2nd hand lenses approximately for the Pentax. As an get right of entry to point sort it misses out on the climate sealing of greater high priced fashions.

I Canon is better because it has a better functional access for the user. The thing about Sony product is, all looks functionality is many time sacrificed for the look. Canon on the other hand has a more balanced design and are generally better value.

I'd say Cannon, They bin making camera's for many years, and $ony screwed me over with a mini disk player a couple of years back, @ £200 you'd think it'd last more than a couple of months and they would of replaced it.
