To best answer this, you need to look at the norms.

It looks like heightwise she is on track, but she looks a little thin by the numbers.
But, this is only numbers. This isn't taking into consideration your daughters stature or health.
Rather than worry about skinny/ fat, try to focus on healthy/ malnourished.

At 10 years:

your child is 72 pounds, and that is
at the 47th percentile for weight.

your child is 56 inches, and that is
at the 72nd percentile for height.

Notes on percentiles:
Percentiles are the most commonly used clinical indicator to assess the size and growth patterns of individual children in the United States. Percentiles rank the position of an individual by indicating what percent of the reference population the individual would equal or exceed. For example, on the weight-for-age growth charts, a 12-year-old girl whose weight is at the 25th percentile, weighs the same or more than 25 percent of the reference population of 12-year-old girls, and weighs less than 75 percent of the 12-year-old girls in the reference population.

Please keep in mind that your child's percentile doesn't really indicate how well they are growing. A child at the 5th percentile can be growing just as well as a child at the 95th percentile. It is more important to look at your child's growth over time. If you are concerned about your child's growth, talk with your Pediatrician.

Too young to be worrying about weight yet. There are body mass indexes on the web that will assist. If she is eating regularly and healthily, has good skin color, has shiny, silky hair (hair is a good indicator of health), has a good appetite, is getting plenty of exercise, etc, then she is good for now. Definitely not too fat. May be technically skinny, but like I said, she is probably still growing.

As her mother I'd have thought you could 'see' if she is too thin.
If she is eating a healthy balanced diet then I expect it is just her growing. One of my sons is a bean pole, skinny but when he slept the other week (14 hours) it really did seem he grew an inch in the night, I commented it to him the next morning too.
They are growing so fast, and some kids are just on the lean side, and adults a like, like myself.
I have to eat like a pig just to keep some weight on, miss a meal I pay for it big time. I have a struggle to keep my weight up and I think it is just my make-up...
We are all different, if your daughters is healthy I wouldn't worry too much-just keep an eye on what she is eating to ensure she is eating

She's 10 and sounds like she's about the same weight as my 10 year old boy, though I don't know his height off-hand.

Is she active? Does she eat healthy foods or is she always chowing down on candy and other 'garbage foods'? Does she ride her bike, run around the playground, shoot hoops?

If she's active and eating healthy foods some or most of the time (candy isn't evil, just bad if it's all you eat), she's probably fine.

If she's exhibiting signs of being overly concerned with her weight (saying "I'm fat, skinny, yadda yadda) A LOT, please talk to her peditrician, as it can be an indication she's heading into the dangerous territory of eating disorders.

The best way to ensure your child(ren) are healthy is to practice a healthy lifestyle yourself. Make sure they see you eating veggies, low-fat healthy snacks and being active. Ride bikes as a family, to to free swim, be active with them. Show them it is fun to be healthy.

Given her height and weight, your daughter has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 17.5. Based on this number, your daughter is underweight. The best approach is to consult your daughter's pediatrician.

Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.

BMI Categories:

Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
