My dog has a rather embarrassing problem. He's been neutered, but gets (disproportionately large) erections on an almost nightly basis. He doesn't "do anything" with it, just stands there looking uncomfortable and sheepish! The vet has done tests and can't find anything wrong. Any ideas gratefully received.

One of my dogs has this issue too. His Red Rocket just likes to sit on the launch pad! It happens when he's excited about something (a treat usually). He's neutered too, but has a huge wang.

I just don't worry about it. He's not embaressed by it--why would he care? He walks around naked all the time becuase he's a DOG not a human. So he gets a stiffy, big deal. Its only you that feels uncomfortable about it, not him.

It's all part of the wonders of dog ownership.

That happens to my dog too and my vet suggested that I find the trigger and eliminate it. In my case, my dog just kept getting too excited about playtime in the evening, which caused an erection. So we just had to make sure we didn't "over-excite" him to that point. If you notice your dog is getting erections after the same kind of activity, you could try toning it down.
