The best prophylaxis for your hives is to start with an over-the-counter antihistamine (I prefer Claritin or it's generic loratadine since it is much less sedating than Benadryl) before you go to the park or any place you know will cause hives. It's preferable that you take your Claritin in the morning before you wake up and about 30 minutes before you eat breakfast. I also like Claritin since one tablet once a day is all you need as opposed to Benadryl which you need to take every 4-6 hours. Hydrocortisone 1% cream, which is an over-the-counter topical steroid will also decrease the inflammation and itching caused by the hives.

The only thing that relieved my hives was claritin & allegra taken together. I had to go to the ER & take a steroid shot with benadryl & it relieved it for a couple of hours & then they came back. My allergy doc put me on claritin & allegra together for 2 weeks & then just claritin by itself. God bless you cause I really know how bad hives can get.

yes! i had hives really bad for 3 days when i went to the beach for a week. i simply took over the counter allergy medication. it works, since hives are an allergic reaction to something.

I have a condition know as chronic hives... I use a prescription drug called Zyrtec... I also use tea tree oil to rub over the hives it works very well.... If you have persistent hive you need to be seen by your doctor.... or go to an allergy specialist....

you need to take antihistamines. like benadryl, allegra, something like that. you are obviously allergic to all those outdoor things. try seeing a doctor about it and he will prolly prescribe some good anitihistamines.
