It could be that what you think is being helpful, they think is being nosy. You may mean well, but they probably feel that you're just meddling. Only help them out when they ask for it to save you all a lot of grief. Just because they don't appreciate your help, doesn't mean others won't.

Some parents want the children to help at certain tasks, but feel almost a perfectionist way in having things done. If you are doing the work without being told maybe you should go to them and ask them what they want done on certain days, almost like a chore day,so no one will get angry. Maybe thats the only way they comunicate, sad.

Sounds like my parents, I usually dont say anything back to them, I just let it go. They probably yell because:
1. doing it wrong
2. doing it right(basically in their minds, showing them up).
3. They are parents..what do you expect.

Maybe they don't like having to accept help from someone they are so used to providing for. Maybe they feel guilty a little for having to. Maybe you're doing a halfa** job and they want you to try harder.

Either they may not want the help or they don't like how they are receiving the help. Or, they want the help, but are being particular.
