is welcomed by many citizens of Mexico? Recent discussions in a political forum in my state (Ariz) included a large group of illegals, who were not adverse to the USA taking out the Mexican government. Their claim of crossing illegally searching for a better life due to a corrupt government which cares less about the poor and the class system that rules being corrupt, there was 100% percent consensus that they would welcome a real government, the USA, and saw it as a saving grace to remain in their country. What are your thoughts regarding the Mexican citizen themselves wishing for an invasion by the USA?

These are all great answers, diverse views, and I reiterate to you that while I agree with so many of you, the very idea that a group of citizens from a foreign country would even entertain the idea of a US invasion is sad. Whoever said we are not the "whipping boy" has it right.

I find it interesting that MAGNETO quickly assumes my political position as being a sympathizer. My stand on immigration is ANTI-ILLEGAL. My sympathy for them is about their mistaken plight as a people.

The USA does not arbitrarily invade any country over the crimes of their government. I agree with the post here who claims the possibility of corruption may even be evidenced in our own government. Yet, this is still the place everyone wants.
Perhaps what I see in a question such as yours is the desperaton of the people, who wish for a war! Life is sacred and the collateral damage of such an action is not even an option in my mind. What ever happened to reason? Mexico while having many resources sucks as a governing agency! I feel for those people, but the critical mass illegal immigration has become needs to be addressed by our government and Mexico needs to have it's own revolution! What a sad nation!

I agree with the point that the U.S. doesn't have to go around invading every country at whim. I doubt they'd do it though, it's very questionable whether or not the U.S. would benefit financially because of it. Mexico has its tourism, but is that strong enough to make this move a lucrative one?
As for the Mexican gov't and its citizens, really, that country needs a REVOLUTION!!! The illegals here live very poorly, but that's much better than the shacks they come from in Mexico. The gov't there does nothing to help its poor, and the poor need to step up and out into the streets and protest and protest and protest until things change, and they can finally have a decent life there.

Enemy what enemy? The conflict on terror some idiotic enthusiasts spark off some bombs crash some planes and damage some homes and abruptly we are conflict. sturdy God this isn't precisely the London Blitz, conflict of Stalingrad on the killing fields of Cambodia. At tops 20,000 human beings were killed in the superb ten years, more desirable are killed through starvation, AIDS, and malaria each month and characteristic been killed in the so-noted as conflict of terror and that i do no longer see the international governments throwing trillions upon trillions of money at those issues. If there's a conflict in the West is between authorities and persons with the governments desirous to limit, eliminate and deny Civil Liberties from its electorate. For those those who have lost kin and pals to those ideological idiots the grief should be incalculable yet enable's no longer pretend we are conflict.

This sounds like another US delusion, that people would love to be invaded.
It was not true of the Iraqis, Afghanis, Vietnamese and it would not be true of the Mexicans.
BTW, the statement that the government "cares less about the poor" aptly describes the US, which has no public health care, no maternity leave and an abysmal minimum wage.

It's a sad day the moment we Americans began thinking like that. Since the US government is such pals with Fox and soon to be President Calderon, they should put the squeeze on Mexico to clean up their own act. This revolution should have occurred years ago. Where's the new Pancho Villa? Obredor being such pals with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and Cuba's Fidel, who won't fricking leave Planet Earth, would convert Mexico's citizens into refugees for sure!

The US doesn't invade other countries just because they have a shitty government. Only if the government is threatening and poses an imminent threat against the US or its allies. Like Afghanistan, not Iraq, which was a huge mistake that George Bush will eventually be punished for.

Well, Mexicans are sneaking into the US anyway. If we invade Mexico, it will allow them to be in the United States because of the new land.
This may help them in the long run as far as stealing our jobs. But how will it help the United States? We are already in debt due to the war overseas. Why would we want to go further in debt by taking over Mexico? What would we get out of it besides more "mouths to feed"?

I don't forsee any "invasion" but I do see a geo-political grouping of all of the countries of North America similar to the European Union, at which time many of the problems witht the current Mexican government will be addresed.

No the USA should not Mexico.Do you want it to end up
like Iraq? And besides, the US government gives too much
care and nurturing to mexicans already.Mexicans need to
be brave enough to stand up to tyranny in their own country
and stop running away(to the U.S.A.) from their problems.

I agree that mexico needs to fix the government. That takes time. Also a firm decent president.Alot of people will not speak up because they are afraid of getting killed. Look what happened to Colosio. So in the meantime what are the starving people supposed to do?Die?No, they have to survive. It is basic instinct.
